Description

[Ikebe Musical Instruments 50th Anniversary Model]
The ultimate 5-string Jazz Bass has been created, pursuing both the practicality of a 5-string bass and the distinctive Fender sound!

This model is a special 50th-anniversary model from Ikebe, commissioned by Ikebe staff after consultations with Fender headquarters, in order to achieve one of the ideal combinations for players: "the Fender sound and the practicality of a 5-string bass."

Based on the basic specifications of the Custom Classic Jazz Bass V, and with an eye towards the sound and appearance of a 1960s Jazz Bass, this model features a lightweight alder body and a dark rosewood fingerboard instead of the standard pau ferro. The fingerboard radius is specified as 12 inches, the modern JB style, instead of the usual 9.5 inches, and the frets are "Medium Vintage," which are slightly larger than vintage frets. Furthermore, instead of the usual block inlays and spaghetti logo for the position markers and headstock logo, it uses clay dots, which symbolize the 60s, and the traditional Jazz Bass transition logo.

The color is the popular Custom Shop original custom color "Darker Lake Placid Blue (DLPB)," and the paintwork is a "thin" nitrocellulose lacquer finish, with only a subtle relic treatment applied.
Regarding the hardware, we've adopted the "Closet Classic" specification, which ensures the screws won't rust, allowing players to use it for many years.

Roasted maple is used for the neck material. By heating the wood to several hundred degrees Celsius in an oxygen-free environment, not only is the precision of the neck after processing improved, but the tendency to warp can be identified before processing, and only wood without problems is used, thus contributing to the prevention of unexpected neck problems in the future. The electronics feature an original 18V-powered 3-band EQ circuit developed during the American Deluxe Upgrade in the early 2000s. The pickups are also updated to match the circuit, employing Noiseless technology, resulting in a sound that combines the delicate nuances of a Jazz Bass with a punchy attack and dynamic tone.
Furthermore, in an effort to achieve a vintage-like appearance, the pickup covers do not feature the "Noiseless" logo.

In terms of sound, the Custom Classic JB boasts a well-balanced tone, along with a distinctly Fender-like thickness and a playful, almost rebellious character. It offers the enjoyment of controlling not only the volume but also the tone with the player's fingers.

The bridge structure allows you to choose between string-through-body and top-loading configurations, so you can set it up to your preference, from a tight sound with suppressed overtones achieved by top-loading to an open sound achieved by top-loading. For example, you can even string only the B string through the body.

It features a special neck joint plate engraved with "Ikebe Music 50th Anniv."

These are limited edition models, with only 5 units available in each color: DLPB and Sunburst.

Furthermore, every customer who purchases this model will receive a mousepad signed by a Fender Custom Shop Master Builder! (*2)

In addition to its excellent functionality as a tool, we hope you will also enjoy the differences in sound and tone that develop and change as the instrument matures alongside the player through prolonged playing.

*1: The condition of the wood is constantly changing depending on the usage environment, etc., so we cannot guarantee its reliability.
*2: These are the signatures of the builders who were on staff as of 2025. Due to scheduling constraints, not all signatures are included. We appreciate your understanding.
