Description
"BLACK SMOKER" is a handmade brand from BLACK CLOUD, a workshop in Nagano Prefecture, a mecca for musical instrument manufacturing where many brands are located. This brand has already gained popularity among many professional musicians for its sophisticated and high-quality sound, playability, and looks. It's a notable brand created by three people: CEO Kuroiwa, who has been involved in the design and manufacturing of numerous manufacturers and models, young builder Yanagisawa, who collaborates with him, and builder Itasaka, who has worked for a long-established Japanese brand.
This cost-effective standard model has enjoyed consistent popularity since the brand's inception, combining practicality and individuality with its simple, classic specifications that allow you to fully appreciate the brand's true value. While its alder body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard are simple specs, the carefully selected materials are immediately apparent upon first note. The neck shape, narrow for ease of playability, maintains its core while retaining its core sound. The original pickups accurately reproduce the body's resonance while producing a full, rich sound. The smooth setup allows for effortless playing, making this a bass that directly conveys the instrument's quality of construction. The pickups feature a newly designed PJ layout, including P-type pickups. Compared to standard P-type pickups, they are noiseless and well-balanced for each string, resulting in a more practical sound. The J-type pickups, with their powerful and resilient P-type characteristics, offer a distinct definition, delivering a truly usable sound that combines the nuances of both PJ and P-type pickups while also incorporating a new texture. Furthermore, the 2-volume, 2-tone stack configuration allows for a wide range of sound creation possibilities. The slightly longer 34.5-inch (876mm) neck offers improved intonation and separation at the lower frets, while the new settings eliminate any discomfort when playing. The 21-fret, five-tuner setup, a standard feature in the Standard Series, is still present, providing a rich resonance without excessive peaking. Depending on the settings and playing style, this guitar can be used for any style of playing, regardless of genre or sound.
While the TradMaster models that have dominated the market in recent years feature a lacquer and aged finish, this standard model uses a urethane finish, offering the same build quality while offering excellent value for money. The black metallic color, which changes color depending on the light, is sure to show its true value on stage. This bass doesn't assert its individuality with a treble attack or excessive power, but rather has a "clear" sound that stands out when blended with other parts in an ensemble. This is the kind of model the modern scene truly needs.
Due to the limited production numbers, this is a highly sought-after brand, and the number of units available is extremely limited. This bass is recognized by professionals for both its playability and sound, and its quality has already made a big name for itself in the scene.
