Description
Description
During the event, our products will be on display and for sale on the first floor of Ikebukuro.
Debuting in 1950 as the Broadcaster, the Telecaster has since reigned alongside the Stratocaster as one of Fender's flagship guitar models. Not only is it an original Fender model, but inspired models have also been produced by various other manufacturers, making it a truly classic electric guitar.
The Custom Telecaster, introduced in 1959 as a higher-end model than the regular Telecaster, features an alder body, double binding on the top and back, and a sunburst finish as its basic specifications.
This particular guitar, shipped around 1968, features a glued-on maple fretboard and has a very interesting specification: the front pickup has been converted to a humbucker.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.5 kg. The body is made of alder. The vibrant 3-tone sunburst finish with a distinct reddish tint and double binding, along with Fender's signature "Thick Skin" finish, is beautiful. The front pickup position has been converted to a humbucking pickup. The pickguard and bridge have been replaced with a 6-way style. There are some weather checking, dents with paint chipping, and tarnishing on the metal parts, as is typical for its age, but considering its age, it can be said to be in relatively good condition.
【neck】
The neck is made of maple, and it features a maple fingerboard, a so-called "laminated maple" construction. The back of the neck has been reshaped, resulting in a slightly slimmer neck profile. There is some weather checking around the headstock and some minor dents, but like the body, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners have been replaced from the original Fender F-key tuners to Kluson Deluxe tuners, and although there is some inconsistency in the winding, they function properly. The frets and nut have been replaced once, and although there is some slight wear near the lower frets, the playability is good. The back of the neck and the surface of the fingerboard were repainted at the time of the neck reshaping and refretting (there is a note near the neck joint indicating the reshaping). Headstock thickness: 14.8mm. Nut width: 41.4mm.
[Electrical System]
The controls feature current wiring that allows for pickup mixing [3-way pickup selector (neck/mix/bridge)/volume/tone]. The neck (front) pickup is a PAF model humbucker by "MAX," which is now difficult to obtain. The bridge (rear) pickup is a gray bobbin from the same period and has been rewound and repaired. The potentiometers and switch have been replaced with new ones. Based on its outstanding response, it has a clear and thick neck position and a crisp bridge position that is never too harsh, making it suitable for a variety of situations.
