Description
Orville was launched in the 1980s as a domestic line directly affiliated with Gibson. Although positioned as a lower-tier brand of Gibson, it combined the high quality unique to domestic production with the authenticity of being a direct descendant of the original Gibson, and even today, nearly 30 years after the brand ceased operations, it enjoys great popularity both domestically and internationally.

This particular unit, based on its serial number, is a 1991 "Firebird," a popular model that is relatively rare and doesn't often appear on the market.

The total weight is approximately 3.55 kg. The reverse-shaped body in a vintage sunburst color is made of three-piece mahogany, and the catalog from that time states that it has a '76 body shape. The catalog states that it is a reproduction except for the neck joint, and including the stop tailpiece specification and the neck and electronics specifications described below, it is likely a model based on the USA-made Firebird V of that time. In addition to signs of use such as overall scratches and dents, tarnishing of metal parts, and damage to the back plate, a strap pin has been added to the neck joint.

This guitar features a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and binding. The neck is a set-neck construction. The back of the neck is not significantly damaged, but there is a scratch near the 5th fret. The tuners are banjo-style pegs; while the winding is slightly inconsistent, they function properly. The characteristic crisp feel is part of the design. The frets and nut show little wear, and playability is good. The nut width is approximately 42.9mm. It features a slim, streamlined neck shape.

[Electrical System]
The controls are a standard configuration of two volume knobs, two tone knobs, and a three-way pickup selector switch. The Orville by Gibson uses USA-made pickups, and is equipped with high-output Gibson 495R/495T mini-humbuckers. The front position has a glossy and uniquely sustained tone, while the rear position is bright and fast, creating a sound that is both modern and vintage.
