Description
This guitar evokes the iconic instrument of the legendary JB, a master musician deeply respected by many, who sadly passed away in 2023! It was made in 1997. Featuring a 1954-style wrap-around bridge, two humbuckers, speed knobs, and Schaller tuners, it boasts that legendary Dark Brown finish! The included Yamano Music warranty card lists it as "LP 54 JB D.BRN"!
JB, a master among masters, respected by many musicians! We will never forget your incredible skills. This time, we have received a rare used guitar that has the appearance of the famous instrument that this great guitarist loved so much! It was made in 1997. This particular unit was ordered through the previous distributor, Yamano Music, and sold by our company, Ikebe Musical Instruments.
Currently, due to rights issues, it's difficult to order guitars with a look similar to musician models, but back in 1997, it was probably still somewhat acceptable. The included Yamano Music warranty card states "LP 54 JB D.BRN"!
This guitar was ordered with the image of one of the "Oxblood" guitars, famously featured in the cover photo of "BLOW BY BLOW," a band that plays with BBA and is an eternal textbook for all guitarists!
It features a maple top, mahogany back, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard.
The neck has a thick, substantial shape, providing a satisfying grip. You can enjoy the rich resonance of the neck.
The coloring is a dark brown with a strong black undertone, and the Yamano Music warranty card also states "D.BRN".
This color appears black at first glance.
Other details also feature the open humbuckers based on the '54 LP, which are synonymous with its look!
With its wraparound bridge, speed knobs and Schaller tuners, 1P black truss rod cover, gap around the rear pickup, mismatched pickguard, and unmarked selector ring, this is a masterpiece packed with meticulous attention to detail and a dream come true!
The silkscreen lettering on the headstock appears to have been intentionally faded in a post-processing step. It hasn't completely disappeared, so if you look closely, you can still make out the Les Paul Model logo. We suspect this fading was done to mimic the original design. At first glance, it appears to have been faded quite nicely. Please note that this process was not ordered for the metal jack plate.
The unique tension and direct, resonant sound that only a wrap-around bridge can provide are simply irresistible.
It contributes to the cohesive chord sound when crunching, and its simplicity and ease of use, despite the lack of fine-tuning options, are also points of its popularity! It's a versatile model that's actually used by a wide range of musicians, from legendary guitarists to vocal guitarists and technically skilled soloists.
The guitar is equipped with two '57 Classic pickups, each featuring a Gibson Custom Shop logo sticker in the center!
This pickup delivers an easy-to-use sound that perfectly matches the stable resonance and tone that the wood from this period provides! The '57 Classic is a renowned pickup that remains popular among musicians even in the age of the Custom Bucker!
His signature model is most famously the CUSTOM SHOP The INSPIRED BY Series, a limited edition of 150 units worldwide (50 aged and 100 vintage), which was finally produced in 2009! While there were also orders for Oxblood-like models in the 2010s and around 2020 through limited-edition projects with domestic dealers, as mentioned earlier, such orders have become increasingly difficult in recent years.
This is a masterpiece that was ordered during the carefree 90s, born from the enthusiasm and playful spirit of the staff at the time!
It also comes with a tag that reads "GIBSON PREMIUM QUALITY FOR JAPAN," certifying that it was manufactured under particularly high quality control specifically for Japanese users!
We've just received a highly recommended rare used item! It's from 1997.
As mentioned earlier, the silkscreen lettering on the headstock has been lightened in a post-processing treatment. It hasn't completely disappeared, so if you look closely, you can still make out the Les Paul Model logo. The finish is clean.
While there are some minor scratches, small paint dents from the original construction, uneven paintwork, paint peeling, and tarnishing on the parts, the overall condition is fairly good. We have performed a full maintenance and cleaning at our shop, so this is a highly recommended guitar that you can use immediately.
The frets have been leveled and it's ready to use. Approximately 85% of the fret life remains.
The nuts are in good working order and function normally. The truss rods also function correctly for normal adjustments.
The electrical system has also been fully checked, so there are no problems with its operation.
The weight is approximately 4.23 kg. It has a balanced design that produces a solid, focused sound.
Accessories include a black Tolex hard case marked "CUSTOM ART HISTORIC," keys, a warranty from the previous distributor, Yamano Music, Gibson Gold Warranty, a GIBSON PREMIUM QUALITY FOR JAPAN tag, and a serial number tag.
Since the certificate of authenticity is not included with other accessories of the same model from this period, I assume that it was not originally included with this model.
For those who can't forget JB's heroic performance! Enjoy "The Triumphant Return of the Guitar Killer" with this guitar!
Don't miss this opportunity!
