Description
Description
This is the 61JB model, which looks great in Fiesta Red.
This guitar was made by Mark Kendrick, who was Senior Master Builder (at the time) and has a track record of working on instruments for many big-name artists, including Eric Clapton.
A superb jazz bass with a lightweight alder body and a high-quality rosewood fingerboard.
It is not too high-waisted and is just the right lightness for a JB, weighing in at just under 4kg.
The exact model name is unknown as no certificate or spec sheet is included, but there is Mark's autograph in the neck pocket and the notation "1 of 2," which leads us to imagine that this may be one of the guitars made for an artist.
It was probably originally produced as an NOS guitar and has been refined over the past 20 years, but the body lacquer has weather checking and dents, the neck has gone from semi-matte to glossy through playing, there are paint chips on the edge of the headstock, and the lacquer has worn and clouded in places - it has a character that can't be developed overnight. The parts are relatively clean, and there appear to be no particular changes, including to the pots.
We believe there is no damage that would be particularly noticeable in terms of playing the instrument, but if you have any concerns, we can provide you with photos of the details, so please feel free to contact us.
There is no noticeable wear on the frets, the truss rod was only tightened a little over half a turn when checked but still has plenty of room, the neck is in good condition with few quirks, and there is only a slight scratch on the rear volume.
A high-quality jazz bass made by Master Builder, with a light sound and a comfortable, firm midrange.
Highly recommended for both playability and sound!
