Description
Description
The Limelight is a boost and drive pedal created in collaboration with Los Angeles post-hardcore band Touche Amore. This pedal, which sought to capture their ideal sound, has garnered attention across genres and is now part of EAE's regular lineup.
This pedal builds on the Bluesbreaker's clipping circuitry with EAE's signature touches to deliver a bright, emotional sound, a wide gain range, and effortless control. The pedal also features a separate Boost channel for even greater versatility and sound-shaping possibilities.
Like a spotlight highlighting an actor's emotional expression on stage, Limelight will make your emotional performances shine.
Drive section with wide gain range
The Limelight is characterized by a bell-like drive sound, and like its base model, the Bluesbreaker, it uses a mechanism that simultaneously controls two gain stages. As the gain is increased, a natural boost is applied to the midrange. This means that even at high gain settings, the sound does not become muddy, allowing for both intense drive and vivid expression.
In addition, the Limelight has a wide gain range of +50dB, and the Boost channel allows it to output a wide range of drive sounds, from gentle, languid clean to frantic distortion, all with just this one pedal.
The Limelight is a pedal not only for post-hardcore bands like Touche Amore, but for any player looking for an emotionally driven sound.
Easy-to-target tone control
Limelight makes tone shaping simple and effortless.
The Focus toggle lets you select from three positions the amount of low-cut applied before the drive section, allowing you to control the presence of the crisp highs and mids that are characteristic of Limelight distortion. The Tone knob controls a low-pass (high-cut) filter; turning it clockwise emphasizes the high frequencies and turning it counterclockwise cuts them.
By combining these two, you can easily shape your tone by using the Focus toggle to determine the general sound balance and then fine-tuning the Tone knob to cut out the high frequencies. You can freely focus on the tone you're aiming for.
●Boost channel for expanded versatility
The versatility of the Limelight is expanded by using the Boost channel, which is placed separately before the Drive channel.
The Boost channel is a simple booster that can cleanly increase the volume by up to 21dB. It can be used alone, or in conjunction with the Drive channel that follows, to strongly boost the amplifier's drive. A gentle low-cut below 200Hz is applied in conjunction with the Boost gain, preventing excessive low frequencies from creating a boomy sound.
With the Boost knob turned all the way down, this channel can be used as a transparent buffer, or placed at the front of your pedalboard, it can be used as an always-on clean buffer + drive 2-in-1 pedal.
