The "Varita CUSTOM GUITAR" was created by studio musicians who demand a variety of playing styles and sounds!
In addition to the basic design of the USA-made Soltar, this Made in Japan model has been fully supervised by Shozo Shimura, who has maintained and set up guitars for famous guitarists such as Masaki Matsubara and Tsuyoshi Kon, and has the nuances and sound that guitarists desire.
The basic construction is bolt-on, and this 5053 Quilt model features beautiful quilted maple. The body back is made of alder, while the neck is made of perfectly even maple with a high-quality rosewood fingerboard. The neck grip features a slim, smooth-radius neck profile that's comfortable for chords and lead playing. It features 22 medium-sized frets and a flat 10R fingerboard. This guitar is handmade to the USA Soltar standard for width, thickness, and shape.
The neck and body joint is heel-cut at a slant, and the back of the cutaway on the 1st string side is similarly deep, allowing for excellent playability in high positions, even with the neck held upright or pointed forward. The neck pocket, pickup cavity, etc. have also been minimally machined. This is the result of meticulous calculations to create a structure that can withstand long periods of playing.
The hardware is also professionally designed with the utmost care!
The machine heads do not require a string guide, and the Magnum Lock tuning pegs have lower post heights for the 6th through 1st strings. This not only allows you to keep the strings in the same condition every time you change them, but also improves tuning stability.
The bridge is a Wilkinson VS-100, a familiar choice for custom guitars. Its two-point support structure ensures smooth arm movements and stable tuning, while the unique saddle shape produces a fat tone and excellent sustain.
The handcrafted wood materials, carefully selected for their quality, and the carefully selected hardware create a superb sound. Even when playing acoustically, the strings bounce back from the neck, creating a rich sound with excellent sustain.
The pickups that transmit this incredible sound to the amp are the Raw Vintage RV-PAF and RV60rwrp. Not only do they mimic vintage pickups, they respond sensitively to picking, faithfully reproducing the nuances of your fingering. The sound is well-defined and has excellent separation, maintaining a solid core even when distorted. The warm sound is complemented by the brilliance and sustain of picking nuances. The sound is also impressive when tapped. The pickup covers are not plated, so some tarnish or corrosion may occur at the time of purchase. Please note that this is due to the nature of the parts.
In addition to the standard 5-position switch, the tone knob adds two more positions: [Front-Middle-Rear] and [Front-Rear]. The [Front-Rear] mix, which can also be used effectively in recording studios, produces a superb cutting sound that you can play forever.
You'll be captivated by the clear sound, which has an attack that feels like it's been subjected to a natural limiter, and a completely different level of granularity.
The volume pot is made by CTS, which not only offers outstanding durability thanks to its robust carbon element structure, but also reduces loss by having two more contact points than the standard five.
The capacitors used are Dilectron capacitors, which cut out unnecessary overtones and produce a pleasant sound that doesn't get lost in an ensemble.
The setup, designed by Shozo Shimura, who has provided setups that meet the needs of guitarists who have supported the music scene, allows for smooth fingering and brings out not only the playing feel but also the guitar's original sound.
Even if you set it up to your liking, there is no doubt that it will be a satisfying guitar because of its high original potential.
The Varita Soltar 5053 is not just a technical design; it also boasts noise suppression and other features that make it suitable for professional guitarists on stage and in the studio. Its performance, which is beyond what you'd expect from its surface, and its well-fortified body and neck make it a must-have guitar for any professional. It's a genuine guitar that can handle a variety of musical situations, from studios to live performances, and even professional use.
