Description

momose Modern Virtuoso series IKEBE ORIGINAL

An Ikebe original custom model featuring a tortoiseshell pickguard!

[Introduction]
The word "Virtuoso" in the series name is an English word meaning a master, expert, master, or maestro of art (especially music).

When we hear the term "musical master," we may imagine a somewhat ostentatious image of someone with a portrait hanging in a music room, but nowadays, with a variety of platforms, especially social media, allowing people to express themselves in a variety of ways, anyone can express themselves without hesitation.

The new "Modern Virtuoso series" from Momose Custom Craft Guitars, produced at the Asuka Factory in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, pays homage to the history of traditional electric guitars while reviewing and updating the detailed specifications to create electric guitars that fit into the modern music scene, where any guitarist can become a virtuoso.

This is a valuable lineup produced by the skilled craftsmen at Asuka Factory, who began production in 1977 and have steadily built up their skills and experience while witnessing the changing times for over 40 years.

Straight-grain maple: This wood is cut with a straight grain, which is more resistant to warping than typical electric guitar necks. This grain is difficult to obtain when cutting wood from a log, as it has a low yield rate. However, when used for necks, the grain is stronger against the tension of the strings, resulting in a stronger neck with less bowing and backbow, a tendency common in electric guitar necks.

◆Pickup & Bridge
The Classic Strat, designed to produce a clean sound with clear contours reminiscent of 1950s Strats, is placed in the front and center, while the Clone '59 model, which is designed to reproduce a PAF, adds a modern flavor and a Classic Hot, which has been tuned to slightly emphasize the bass and extend sustain, is placed in the rear.

◆Equipped with a reliable two-point support tremolo unit made by Gotoh.
The 510T series eschews traditional vintage styling for a more functional tremolo system. It features a unique arm system with minimal clearance. To ensure strength and wear resistance at the edge, which serves as the fulcrum for movement, the plate is made of high-hardness chrome-molybdenum steel. It is precision-machined and finished with a high-level heat treatment. The fulcrum is a two-point anchor nut type with a stud lock (PAT.). Furthermore, a block with a uniquely shaped FST mechanism (PAT.) prevents string interference between the saddle and ball end, dramatically improving tuning recovery after arm movements.

Pegs
This guitar features locking tuning machines from Hipshot, a company founded in California in 1983. The combination of precision-cut 18:1 gears and nylon bearings ensures smooth operation and accurate tuning over the long term. The height of the posts on the tuning machines is different for each string, ensuring proper tension against the nut. This mechanism eliminates the need for a string guide.

Frets: The Jescar frets are a standard on modern component guitars. Crafted with decades of precision engineering expertise, Jescar frets not only look great, but also boast consistent, consistent quality compared to existing frets.

◆Oil-soaked High-Density Buffalo Bone Nut Nuts and saddles are typically made from a variety of materials, including cow bone, tusk, ivory, brass, plastic, and carbon fiber, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. However, Momose products consistently use cow bone. This time, we have adopted a nut made from buffalo bone, which offers a higher density and consistent quality than conventional materials. Even within cow bone, there are areas with high and low density depending on the part and individual. Low-density areas can result in noticeable voids and a porous texture. We set a specific gravity standard for the buffalo bone used in this project, requiring only bones with a density of 1.7 or higher. This standard is denser and denser than conventional cow bone, which we believe offers advantages in appearance, texture, and sound quality. Ivory's specific gravity is said to be between 1.7 and 1.9, making its material properties similar to those of ivory.
