Description

★The TLM 67 large diaphragm condenser microphone was released to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of Neumann.

Key Features: - Same capsule as the legendary U 67 microphone - Reliable FET circuitry for tube sound characteristics - Three polar patterns: Omni, Cardioid, Figure 8 - Switchable Low Cut and Pad - Versatile studio workhorse for vocals and instruments - Extremely low self-noise

The TLM 67 is in the spirit of Neumann's classic U 67, which defined the sound of the 1960s. However, the TLM 67 uses trouble-free FET circuitry rather than vacuum tubes, and delivers gorgeous retro tone with a special sound design. Like its predecessor, the TLM 67 offers three polar patterns and low cut and pad switches, making it a versatile studio workhorse.

Classic Sound Meets Modern Convenience Today's concept of a new studio microphone is still largely defined by Neumann's classic U 67. When introduced in the 1960s, this model offered a linear frequency response in three polar patterns, along with pad and low-cut switches for then-new close-miking techniques. The U 67 was, and still is, a true studio workhorse, and many top engineers would choose it as their answer to the question, "If you could only take one microphone to a desert island," but today vintage instruments have become collector's items, making them out of reach for younger engineers and musicians. For these, the TLM 67 offers an attractively priced option.

The TLM 67 retains the key features of the U 67, which has become an icon of the Neumann brand, such as its elegant appearance and the famous tapered headgrille. Furthermore, the TLM 67 uses the large-diaphragm capsule used in its legendary predecessor, the classic K 67 capsule, also used in the Neumann U 87 A.

◎Reconstructing the sound of the 60s
Instead of the vacuum tubes of the U 67, the TLM 67 uses a transformerless head amplifier with reliable 21st-century solid-state technology, yet exudes a retro feel. The TLM 67's circuitry is modern yet meticulously recreates the sound of the 1960s. The result is a low THD of 0.5% up to 105 dB SPL (in cardioid mode), rising slowly to 5% at 125 dB SPL. Thus, the TLM 67 delivers the sonic character and dynamic behavior of its predecessor without the use of tubes or the clutter of a PSU box or multi-pin cables.

Visually, the TLM 67 exudes a retro vibe with its unique two-tone color scheme, combining a classic satin nickel capsule head with a stylish pearl gray body. Released in 2008, the TLM 67 features a metal emblem on the front bearing the name of company founder Georg Neumann, commemorating the company's 80th anniversary.

Like its legendary predecessor, the TLM 67 is a versatile studio microphone with omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-8 directional patterns as well as pad and low-cut switches. A true workhorse, the TLM 67's unique tube midrange characteristic ensures excellent performance for vocals and speech. Its essentially linear frequency response also makes it suitable for a wide range of instruments, including acoustic and electric guitars, piano, percussion, and as an overhead microphone for drums.
