Description

Carefully selected consigned items (items sold on your behalf)

Les Paul, the great jazz guitarist who had an immeasurable influence on the electric guitar and its playing style, is a legend in the history of popular music. In 1952, Gibson released his signature model, the "Les Paul Model," bearing his name. Since then, while undergoing various changes over time, the Les Paul model has continued to be loved by guitarists worldwide as a standard in the electric guitar world, with a diverse lineup including vintage reissue models and even models inspired by other companies.

The Les Paul Standard, which was re-released in 1968, underwent a model change the following year, 1969, resulting in the "Les Paul Deluxe" equipped with two mini-humbuckers. We believe the guitar we have in stock was shipped around 1974. It features a highly sought-after gold top color and weather checking that shows signs of wear and tear.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.45 kg. The body is made of a maple top with a pancake-structured laminated mahogany back. The gold color has deepened in color and developed a patina. Overall, there is weather checking, traces of strap pin relocation, dents and scratches, changes in the paint on the back, and peeling plating and rust on the metal parts, giving it a wonderful vintage guitar feel that shows its age. The strap pins have been replaced with Dunlop-style ones.

【neck】
The neck is made of 3-piece mahogany, and the fingerboard is rosewood. There is some weather checking on the headstock and at the material boundaries, minor dents, paint wear on the back of the neck from use, and tarnishing on the metal parts, giving it a nice, aged look similar to the body. The tuners have consistent winding feel and function reliably. The frets and nut have been replaced by our shop, resulting in excellent playability. The nut width is 43.0mm. The neck features a relatively thin profile around the lower frets, gradually thickening towards the 12th fret.

[Electrical System]
The controls are in a standard layout: 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, and 2 tone controls. The pickups are the familiar mini-humbuckers of this model. The capacitor for the front tone control has been replaced, but the other pickups and electronic components remain in their original condition.

In addition to the excellent natural resonance that comes from long years of use, the sustain produced by the solid, weighty body combines to create a sound that is characterized by the tight, responsive mid-low frequencies and clearly defined high frequencies unique to mini-humbuckers. The range is cleaner than that of a regular humbucker, and the response to picking is light and responsive. In the front position, it has a clear tone that maintains thickness without being excessively bloated, while in the rear position, it has a strong attack and a moderate edge. When driven, it retains the clarity of a mini-humbucker, but the thick harmonics from the mahogany body and maple top are added, giving it a vintage-like stickiness and power.
