Description
Description
Rupert Neve Designs presents a compact active transformer DI that's easy to integrate into your pedalboard!
The RNDI-M is a compact DI box that features the same Rupert Neve Designs custom transformers and discrete FET input stage as the best-selling RNDI, RNDI-S, and RNDI-8, delivering the superb tone and clarity of the award-winning series. It fits perfectly on a pedalboard. This robust yet compact enclosure packs in a wealth of features, allowing even more musicians and engineers to experience the uncompromising sound and dynamism that are hallmarks of Rupert Neve Designs DIs.
■Compact design, great tone
The RNDI-M is compatible with electric guitars, basses, synthesizers, keyboards, piezo pickups, and a wide range of other instrument-level sources. Its discrete Class A circuitry, built around a custom transformer by Rupert Neve, delivers exceptional sound performance and incredibly natural tones from below 5Hz to well over 90kHz. It supports input levels down to +20.5dBu, and its low-impedance transformer-coupled output stage minimizes signal loss between devices, even when using long cables.
■Signature Sound
The RNDI-M's unique precision, tone, and response are achieved through the superb harmony of Rupert Neve Designs' custom transformers and Class A discrete FET input stage.
Custom transformer
The RNDI-M's custom output transformer provides excellent passive isolation while adding musical harmonics and depth to the sound. Its low-impedance transformer-balanced output ensures consistent performance even with long cable runs, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from stage to studio.
Class A discrete FET amplifier
The RNDI-M's Class A discrete FET input stage features a 2.2MΩ high-impedance input powered by an external +48V phantom power supply, providing consistent performance across a variety of instruments and other sources. The Class A design eliminates crossover distortion, resulting in a pleasing combination of second and third-order harmonics that dominate the harmonic content. These harmonics, though subtle, are closely related to musical resonance, adding richness to the sound.
■ Wide bandwidth and ample headroom
The RNDI-M boasts a flat response, with a range of less than 1/4dB from 28Hz to 60kHz and within +/-1dB up to 90kHz, as well as low-frequency response below 5Hz. This wide bandwidth, combined with the harmonic characteristics of the output transformer, delivers a low-end that feels an octave deeper, without sacrificing the richness of the midrange or the brilliance of the top end.
■ For guitar, bass, synth, keyboard, etc.
The RNDI-M boasts a uniquely high input headroom of +20.5dBu, making it compatible with a wide range of sources, including not only guitars and basses, but also synthesizers, keyboards, drum machines, and even pre-recorded material.
