TAMA Dyna-Sync Drum Pedal
HPDS1TW (Dynasync Twin Pedal)
This twin pedal employs a direct-drive system on both the left and right sides, using a metal arm to connect the cam and footboard. By setting the contact point of the direct link connecting the cam and footboard to the optimal position and angle, it pursues a perfect balance of power, speed, and natural feel. Furthermore, by sliding the upper arm of the cam back and forth, the rotation radius of the cam can be adjusted steplessly. This allows for a variety of feel to suit your preference, providing a sense of unity that fits any playing style. A dedicated hard case is included.
Optimized Transmission Design
Direct drive pedals, which use a metal arm to connect the cam and footboard, eliminate play in the action during playing, resulting in an extremely light feel and quick footboard return. On the other hand, the unique feel that changes depending on the angle of the pedal stroke is something that players will have differing preferences for. With the Dyna-Sync pedal, the contact point of the direct link connecting the cam and footboard is set to the optimal position/angle, regardless of the angle of the pedal stroke, pursuing the perfect balance of power, speed, and natural feel.
Dual Linkage
To efficiently convert the force applied to the footboard into rotational motion of the cam, bearing-equipped rotating shafts are installed at both ends of the joint of the arm connecting the cam and the footboard. Furthermore, by holding them with equal force from both sides by two arms, energy loss at the connection point is minimized, resulting in astonishing response speed and power.
Slidable Cam
The cam's rotation radius can be adjusted steplessly by sliding the upper arm of the cam back and forth. Extending the arm to increase the rotation radius (moving it towards L:Large) makes the changes in the footboard angle and the force required to press the pedal smoother during play, achieving high operability that allows for the expression of subtle touches similar to a chain-drive pedal. Conversely, shortening the arm to decrease the rotation radius (moving it towards S:Small) results in a more direct-drive action with greater changes in the footboard angle and the force required to press the pedal, providing a solid feel. While being a direct-drive action, it offers a variety of feel options to suit your preferences, creating a sense of unity that fits any playing style.
Footboard Angle Adjustment
A key feature for customizing the pedal to each drummer's individual preferences is the ability to adjust the footboard angle independently of the beater angle. The Dyna-Sync pedal features a new and unique angle adjustment function never seen before. A clamp connects a linkage extending from the cam to the tip of the footboard, and by adjusting the bolt located there with a tuning key, the angle of the entire footboard can be changed and securely fixed.
Beater Angle Adjustment
The beater angle can be adjusted steplessly in conjunction with the footboard. Loosen the square-head bolt on the side of the rocker cam and adjust it using the markings on the black cap as a guide.
*Dyna-Sync pedals employ an adjustment mechanism that changes the angle of the direct link in conjunction with the beater angle adjustment, in order to maintain their distinctive feel regardless of the beater angle. Therefore, when you adjust the beater angle, the footboard angle will also change, so please adjust the angle of the footboard only by loosening the bolt on the clamp at the tip of the footboard.
*Similarly, when adjusting the left beater angle of a twin pedal, please adjust it using the rocker cam, not the beater holder.
Sync-Coil
Sync-Coil is a TAMA original mechanism that assists the footboard's rebound by having a coil touch the underside of the footboard just before the beater hits the drumhead. It uses a spring that is 1.5 times stronger than the Cobra Coil in the Cobra pedal, resulting in a more powerful effect.
Dyna-Beater
This traditional barrel-shaped beater features black felt and a slight taper, providing a natural feel during play and delivering a clear, dynamic bass drum sound.
Heavy Spring
This pedal uses a spring (HP900-7H) with higher tension than those used in the IRON COBRA900/600 pedals. This results in a faster beater return and a greater sense of unity between the footboard and the foot.
Swivel Spring Tight
A mechanism designed to maximize the effect of the spring. By rotating the shaft that fixes the lower end of the spring, the spring always expands and contracts vertically without distortion, even during vigorous movements. This converts the elastic energy stored in the spring into energy to move the pedal without loss. Furthermore, by reducing friction at the connection point with the spring, it achieves ideal pedal work with light pressing and quick return.
Speedo-ring & Quick Hook
A high-precision ball bearing is installed at the connection point between the spring and the shaft. This bearing efficiently converts the elastic energy generated in the spring when the footboard is pressed into the rotational energy of the cam. Furthermore, because it precisely follows the movement of the spring, it achieves a smoothness that makes the movement of the foot and the movement of the footboard synchronize.
Para-Clamp II Pro
TAMA's original clamp securely holds bass drum hoops of various thicknesses. The rubber attached to the tip that secures the bass drum hoop enhances grip, providing strong fixation while minimizing damage to the hoop. Furthermore, the tip's three-dimensional movement structure allows it to adapt to the angle of the bass drum's front end, even in setups where the front of the bass drum is significantly raised, stabilizing the pedal.
Footboard
The footboard, designed specifically for the Dyna-Sync pedal, features a flat surface across its entire length, accommodating a variety of pedal playing techniques. While maintaining a standard length, the footboard's starting point is positioned further back to a point where a natural "lightness" is achieved, resulting in a light press while maintaining a natural action. Similar to a long footboard, pressing on the heel side, which has a shorter vertical movement distance, enhances responsiveness to fast passages.
Badge Guard Block
The bearings at both ends of the hinge shaft are held in place by being sandwiched between them, distributing the force applied to the bearings when the pedal is pressed. This reduces the load on the hinge shaft itself, resulting in higher precision rotation and smoother operation, along with high durability.
Oiles Bearing Hinge
The hinge that serves as the pivot point for the footboard utilizes Oiles bearings, which are made of bell brass mesh coated with Teflon resin. This eliminates unpleasant lateral movement of the footboard, providing smooth pedal operation.
