Evolution born from the stage: After years of development, the Cry Baby BB535 Wah was released in 1994. In order to explore the possibilities of the wah pedal, parts and circuits were thoroughly researched, and feedback was collected directly from guitarists who were leading the heavy rock scene in the early 1990s.

What guitarists at the time were looking for was smoother pedal action and a growling, thick wah sound. The Cry Baby BB535 Wah was born as a result of continuous improvements that incorporated each of these requests.


• Design that prioritizes expressiveness
The Cry Baby BB535 Wah was created by incorporating numerous requests from artists into the actual circuit design.
First, a buffer is used for high-impedance inputs.
This feature draws on the experience gained during the development of the Jimi Hendrix Wah, restoring the high and low frequencies that tend to be lost when using the effect.

Furthermore, the inductor, which is the core of the sound, uses specially designed military-grade parts.
By suppressing unwanted noise and utilizing an ideal inductance value of 535mH, it achieves a warm, vocal-like response.

The solution incorporated is a switchable boost circuit based on the MXR Micro Amp.
