Description
V-Class with innovative bracing pattern
Taylor has become a manufacturer with a large share of the global market, and the 800 Series is their flagship model.
Taylor's top-of-the-line 800 Series features a Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, which are standard wood materials for acoustic guitars, but are also made with carefully selected, high-quality materials.
The Grand Auditorium cutaway 814ce is a model that features excellent sound response, clear sound definition, rich volume and bass.
The bracing is V-Class, which, combined with the extremely thin paint, gives the model a wide range of well-balanced resonance and a clear, mellow sound.
V-Class bracing, introduced at Winter NAMM 2018, is a completely new bracing pattern developed by Taylor's young master builder, Andy Powers. While X-bracing has long been a standard for acoustic guitars and is still used on many guitars today, including other Taylor guitars, the new V-Class bracing delivers richer volume and longer sustain to suit the modern music scene.
The structure is designed to carefully monitor the movement of the top material, transmitting string vibrations throughout the entire top without loss, resulting in a bracing pattern that not only improves volume and sustain, but also ensures accurate intonation. While maintaining the basic function of maintaining the strength of the top, it also provides a richer, clearer sound, and sensitivity that responds to even the most delicate picking nuances.
The neck is constructed from tropical mahogany and ebony. Taylor calls this ebony smoky ebony due to its smoky pattern. The pure black wood is highly prized, and the mottled parts have traditionally been discarded. However, there are no problems with the strength or sound of the wood, and Taylor actively uses this type of wood.
The neck grip is a soft V-shape with a moderate triangle that naturally fits the hand, providing a comfortable playing feel regardless of style. The neck is a part that shows Taylor's commitment to wood and consideration for the player.
Other features include elbow cuts that improve playability, fingerboard inlays, and avalon purfling on the body, all of which combine to create a warm, woody feel and an elegant look.
The pickup system is the Expression System II.
The ES2's piezo is positioned against the side of the saddle, rather than underneath it, resulting in a clearer sound without any sense of compression. It also allows the entire body to vibrate more effectively.
This model combines a highly playable body shape with Taylor's unique technology, and the more nuanced sound from the new V-Class bracing opens up new doors and possibilities for the player.
