Description
Description
Superb chestnut top!
Despite being 36 inches, the comfortable and excellent balance is unique to Imperial.
This vintage Fodera features a high-quality ash body topped with chestnut burl, which was once an overwhelmingly popular top wood for the brand but is now unavailable for order due to its difficulty in obtaining the wood, and is paired with a rosewood fingerboard.
Equipped with a Bartolini soap bar pickup, a feature of this era, and a two-band HAZ active circuit, the ash already has a crisp, solid sound, and by boosting the low end of the EQ a little, you can enjoy the fat active sound typical of early models, with a nice slap sound. Compared to recent models, this guitar is much more versatile, and can be used in a variety of styles, not just jazz.
Although water-based lacquer was used on pieces from this period, there is no stickiness that often comes with aging. There is some wear on parts of the neck from playing, dents and (dented) buckle scratches on the body, and weather checking, but we hope that you will see these as part of the charm of an older instrument.
This bridge from this era is a firm favorite among Fodera enthusiasts, and although the plating is oxidized, all the screws are still in good working order and function perfectly. The saddles can be locked with screws, so the string vibrations don't change the action or rattle, and the string vibrations are transmitted tightly and stably to the body.
The truss rod appears to have been replaced quite some time ago with a more effective, current type (genuine Fodera), and it works well. (It can be attached and detached without any modification, so no modifications to the wood are required.)
There is no noticeable buzzing in the frets, and the neck condition is straight on the 1st string side but slightly bowed on the 5th string side, but this does not affect the playability, and there are no problems with the electrical system. The hard case has the guitar's name painted on it.
This Imperial with a superb chestnut top, one of the most popular Fodera models that continues to fascinate not only bass enthusiasts but also top players around the world, is now available in good condition as a used item!
