Description
A rare plain-top 1959 LP! A highly esteemed year among Les Paul enthusiasts, this 2000 Historic Collection 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, the year following the 40th anniversary of the 1959 Les Paul, is now available pre-owned in recommended player's condition! This 1959 LP features a rare, solid plain top, and a striking lemon burst finish.
The 1999 Les Paul is an essential part of the current Historic collection. While the quality of Les Pauls has reached a new level of perfection in recent years, the 1999 model is truly the gem that marked the beginning of the legend! Continuing that momentum, the following year, the 2000 Historic Collection 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue is available pre-owned in highly recommended player's condition! This 1959 LP features a rare solid plain top! The lemon burst color matches the wood grain of the top, creating a realistic feel. The solid plain top delivers a fast-responding tone.
The 1959 Les Paul is often ordered with figured maple, while the Plain Top is typically ordered with the 1958 Les Paul. This guitar is also recommended for those looking for a 1959 Les Paul with a 1959LP neck shape and a solid, plain top! Its realistic appearance is irresistible, reminiscent of the real thing! The model name on the certificate is listed as "LPR9PLBNH," with a "P" (for Plain) before the "LB" (for color)! (The certificate is folded in four.)
1999 marked the 40th anniversary of the 1959 Les Paul, so Gibson also made some aggressive refinements. The body top carving was refined, the headstock and body shapes were changed, the pickup, bridge, tailpiece, and control positions were relocated, the neck joint position was corrected, and the binding thickness was changed. The following year, 2000, was said to have basically retained the minor changes from 1999, but the headstock was returned to its original shape and some single-ply parts were made thicker.
The headstock of this model doesn't seem to have been enlarged that much, but the jack plate has a thicker single-ply part. We hope you enjoy these transitional specifications.
The pickups are the classic '57 Classic, a PAF classic from the time! The '57 Cassic pickups, which are still highly popular today, offer a unique tone that is historic even when compared to today's vintage-like tones!
The tone has a feel of the era that you can't get in today's Les Pauls, and it's irresistible!
The assembly features 300KΩ potentiometers engraved with the Gibson logo. The capacitors are also ceramic. The 2001 model remained the same, but in 2002, the pickups were changed to Burstbucker 2 and 3, with vintage CTS potentiometers and Yellow Jacket capacitors. However, due to defects and inconsistencies in the vintage potentiometers, in 2003 Gibson ordered 500KΩ USA-made potentiometers and Bumblebee replicas, along with Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups, and this was a minor change in the early 2000s.
The bridge was a wired ABR-1. It remained the same in 2001, but in 2002 a non-wired ABR-1 bridge was adopted. However, complaints were received in the US that the bridge would come off when a string broke, and in 2003 the bridge was reverted to a wired ABR-1. It wasn't until the 50th anniversary in 2009 that the bridge was replaced with the non-wired ABR-1 like the original.
The tailpiece was die-cast for both 1999 and 2000. Aluminum tailpieces have been used since 2001.
This time, we have a recommended player's condition pre-owned guitar in stock! It was made in 2000.
There are small scratches, dents, playing marks, small dents all over the body top, severe buckle scratches all over the back of the body, dents, sticker marks, a dent near the 11th fret on the back of the neck, scratches all over the headtop, dents on the side of the body, and some dullness on parts, but none of these affect playability. This guitar has been fully serviced at our shop, so it's ready to play right away!
There are a lot of scratches, dents and signs of use overall, but it has a nice atmosphere!
There are cracks in the neck binding, but this does not affect playability. The endpin has been replaced with a Schaller lock pin. Neither the endpin receiver nor the original endpin is included.
The frets have been filed and are ready to use. Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The nut has been adjusted and there are no problems with use. The truss rod can also be adjusted normally.
The electrical system has been fully checked and there are no problems with operation.
There are soldering repair marks on the pots, so it is possible that the pickups have been replaced at one time, but the current pickups and assembly are original. There is also a crack near the screw hole on the control panel, but it does not currently interfere with opening and closing, and there are no problems.
It weighs approximately 4.13 kg, and is balanced to produce a solid sound.
Accessories include the original black hard case and a quarter-fold certificate.
The hard case does not come with a key.
Don't miss this opportunity!
