The Akamatsu Guitar that was on special display for a limited time at Hotel Buena Vista, located in the heart of Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, has now arrived!

The ever-evolving Akamatsu Guitar Project

We began working on making guitars using red pine in 2017. It all started when we heard about the damage caused by pine weevils, which had become a major problem in Nagano Prefecture, where our company is located. We learned that pine with worm holes, knots, or stains was not preferred for its intended use as furniture or building materials, and that much of it was incinerated. This led to the idea that we could use it to make guitars, and so the "Red Pine Guitar Project" was born.

◆Akamatsu guitar with a completely new design

While retaining the German curve on the outer periphery of the body, which was a trademark of the original Akamatsu guitar, the CONTINENTAL guitar has a retro look that makes it seem as though it was discovered decades ago in an old garage. Its distinctive body shape was likened to the name CONTINENTAL, which means "continent."

◆Aged processing that brings out individuality

The knots and stains of the red pine are seen as unique features, and the body, headstock, and metal parts have been aged to blend in with the overall design.

◆Modernized and practical specifications

Contrary to its appearance, the controls and specifications have been updated to modern standards, with a design that is player-oriented and designed for actual use on stage.

◆ Indian rosewood fingerboard

The neck is made of Indian rosewood, a classic material for fingerboards, and features binding on the sides of the fingerboard and smaller-than-usual dot position marks for a sophisticated look.

◆Bacchus STP-1

This guitar is equipped with Bacchus' original P-90 type "STP-1" pickup. The wide-turn pickup's distinctive sharpness and depth at the neck position combine to create a tone that's both crisp and deep, while the dry, chunky tone at the bridge position provides high versatility and expressiveness. This pickup is a perfect match for the red pine body, which is known for its light sound.
