Throughout the long history of the trumpet, there have been vintage trumpets that have been hailed as masterpieces.
The Xeno Artist Model series is the result of thorough research and verification of these technologies, not merely reproducing the same capabilities, but redesigning and reconstructing each and every material and part structure to achieve a high level of balance.
Since its inception, the company has continued to evolve, striving for even greater heights through close collaboration with top artists.


The Chicago Series
The Chicago Series was completed with the cooperation of John Hagstrom of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO).
Combining traditional style with innovative specifications, this instrument offers a free-blowing feel and a brilliant, deep tone.
The high degree of similarity between the C and B♭ instruments makes switching between them easy, and the excellent balance across the entire range results in superior playability.


◯ Valve casing (Image: 2)
Based on new insights gained from research into vintage trumpets, we have revised the dimensions and wall thickness of specific parts of the valve casing.
The synergistic effect of the valve casing changes and the lightweight piston has resulted in a significant improvement in response, enabling clearer expression of even the finest tonal details.

◯Bell design (Image: 3)
The tapered design of the bell and the square bend in the U-shaped section provide the ideal resistance.
This results in a powerful, solid, and more "three-dimensional" sound, improving playability in the high-frequency range.
The bell on the YTR-9445CHS has been changed from the conventional YS4 type to the YS4s, which has a different bell end shape.
When combined with the MC1 leadpipe, it achieves more accurate pitch.

◯Main valve slide
The main tuning slide shape of the YTR-9335CHS and YTR-9445CHS has been revised to balance the overall playing feel and tone, and a square shape has been adopted.

◯ Water Key / Water Key Cork
The water key shape of the YTR-9445CHS has been redesigned, and a rubber cork* that is less prone to deterioration over time has been adopted, resulting in a more focused sound and improved projection and responsiveness.
*Rubber cork: A material made by uniformly mixing cork particles into synthetic rubber. It has superior compression recovery properties compared to regular cork.

◯ Structure of the leadpipe and main tuning slide (Image: 4)
In the Chicago Series C trumpets, Bob Malone's uniquely designed leadpipe and main tuning slide are of the reverse type. This structure contributes to shaping the instrument's tone and facilitates accurate intonation across all registers.

◯ French Bead (Image: 3)
Unlike the common method of inserting a perfectly round rim and then curling it, this is a highly advanced method that involves inserting a semi-circular rim and then curling it to match its shape. It is characterized by excellent sound feedback to the performer.

◯ Lead pipe (Image: 5)
By using a thicker-walled leadpipe, the original Malone pipe (MC1), and a lightweight mouthpiece receiver, the tone and response have been improved, and the optimal resistance for playing has been achieved.
Furthermore, by not soldering the finger rest to the leadpipe, the characteristics of the leadpipe are fully utilized, resulting in improved tone and responsiveness.

Since Bob Malone opened his workshop in Los Angeles in 1983, many trumpet players have had their instruments customized by him.
In particular, their uniquely designed leadpipes are highly regarded and are remembered and talked about under the name "Malone pipe."
In 2001, Yamaha welcomed Malone into their development team and incorporated Malone pipes into some of their custom models.
With its rich and brilliant sound and excellent projection, this leadpipe will bring out the full potential of the player's musical vision.

◯ Extension seat design and position, support column position (Image: 6)
The new bell extension shape was designed to achieve a quick response and a brilliant yet focused tone.
The YTR-9335CHS and YTR-9445CHS have similar distances between the mouthpiece receiver and the main tuning slide brace, indicating a high degree of homogeneity and making it easy to switch between B♭ and C trumpets.

◯First slide (Image: 7)
The special support for the first slide enhances the core of the sound, resulting in a clearer and more distinct expression.

The third valve slide has a stopper positioned to allow it to slide out further than usual, enabling you to play Low F with accurate pitch.
Furthermore, the buttons and notched stoppers at the tips of the slides allow for fine-tuning of the resistance during playing, resulting in a comfortable playing experience.

◯Slide Stopper The slide stopper prevents the tuning slide from falling out and, being made of silicone rubber, it will not cause discoloration of the instrument.
It combines strength and elasticity, allowing it to remain attached even during performances. (Length: 12 cm)

John Hagstrom (Chicago Symphony Orchestra)
John Hagstrom has been a member of the trumpet section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) since he passed the audition for fourth trumpet in 1996.
A year after joining the orchestra, he took on the position of second trumpet, carrying on the tradition of the CSO's renowned brass section ensemble. Prior to joining the CSO, he served as principal trumpet of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Kansas and as an assistant professor at Wichita State University.

Originally from Chicago, he grew up listening to the CSO.
After studying at the Eastman School of Music for five years, I spent six years with The President's Own U.S. Marine Corps Band in Washington D.C., where I served as principal player for three of those years.
His band and solo performances have included four national concert tours and the Camp David wedding of President Bush's daughter, Dorothy.

Recent recordings include the Bellini Oboe Concerto, the Sachse Concertino, and a collaboration with the Chicago Brass Choir.
You can also hear him playing lead trumpet on Daniel Barenboim's "Tribute to Ellington" recording, released on the Teldec label.
