[A snare drum manufactured to commemorate Yamaha's 100th anniversary, a 100th Anniversary Recording Custom Special! Features an extremely rare silicote wood finish and gold hardware!]

The history of the Yamaha Group began in 1887 when its founder, Torakusu Yamaha, repaired a broken organ in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, which led to the successful manufacture of domestically produced organs.
Subsequently, on October 12, 1897 (Meiji 30), he established "Nippon Gakki Mfg. Co., Ltd." and became its first president, laying the foundation for the musical instrument business, starting with the manufacture of pianos.
In 1987 (Showa 62), exactly 100 years after its founding, the company changed its name from "Nippon Gakki Mfg. Co., Ltd." to its current name, "Yamaha Corporation." Inheriting the passion of its founder, the Yamaha Group continues to offer new inspiration and rich culture to people all over the world.

-YAMAHA 100TH Limited CENTENNIAL EDITION RECORDING CUSTOM SPECIAL-

This model was specially manufactured to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Yamaha's founding in 1987, the year the company changed its name from "Nippon Gakki Mfg. Co., Ltd." to its current name, "Yamaha Corporation."
Since its introduction in the late 1970s as the [YD-9000] series, Yamaha's top-of-the-line Made-in-Japan drums have already gained high acclaim and a proven track record worldwide.
These drums feature shells made from 100% high-quality birch from Hokkaido, equipped with high-tension lugs. They boast a stable, solid, and sharp attack sound with excellent mid-low frequencies, and are renowned for their excellent microphone response.

The shell of this instrument is constructed with a 6-ply birch outer layer and an inner layer laminated with Ciricote material.
Ciricote, also known as Ziricote, is a type of wood belonging to the Cordia genus, and is an extremely rare and high-quality wood native to Mexico and Central America.
Due to its exotic and beautiful grain and high strength, it is highly valued as a material for furniture, high-end acoustic guitars, and ukuleles.
All hardware, from the lugs and hoops to the tom holders and tuning bolts, is finished in gold, boasting a magnificent and opulent appearance befitting the 100th anniversary.
Combined with the specially designed emblem, it creates an elegant and sophisticated visual.

In terms of sound, the sharp, tight transient response of birch wood and the edgy presence of silicote wood are beautifully combined to create an extremely clear and crisp sound.
It boasts a crisp attack sound and a well-balanced sound with strong mid-low frequencies, and the snare wires are long-type (full contact) that won't clip even with light rolls.
This model is suitable for a wide range of musical genres, from rock, pop, jazz, and fusion to wind band music.

~YD9000 & RECORDING CUSTOM~
Featuring a 100% birch shell, one-piece lugs, and a beautifully glossy paint finish, this model can be considered the origin of Yamaha's system drums.
At the time, maple was the most popular drum shell material and became a staple in American jazz drum sets.
Meanwhile, through research on pianos and wind instruments, they realized that birch wood was an ideal material for drum shells. Furthermore, by applying piano manufacturing techniques to drums, and avoiding the then-common veneer covering method, they opted for a painted finish. All of Yamaha's technological capabilities at the time were poured into this historic model.

By combining a hard birch shell with one-piece lugs, this instrument achieves a sharper and more solid sound, making it the envy of top drummers worldwide.
Its sound was said to be ideally suited for recording, and the YD9000 became the most widely used drum set for recording in history. The YD9000 was later renamed "Recording Custom" and remains widely used today.
