Dear John Lennon! "Give Peace A Chance!"
A legendary instrument that created the powerful rhythm guitar playing of John Lennon, one of the greatest icons in the rock world and a master of rhythm guitar of unparalleled talent, the Model 325 V59 Mapleglo, is now available as a recommended used item! It is believed to have been manufactured in 1984. This modified model embodies John Lennon's feelings towards his beloved instrument from various periods, including his time in Hamburg!
Rickenbacker has a long history, dating back to 1931.
Rickenbacker is a rare brand that has always maintained its company policy without wavering, proudly producing electric guitars in the United States, the birthplace of electric guitars, and upholding the "Made in America" pride. From the past to the present, it has consistently refused offers of subcontracting or licensed production from numerous factories and manufacturers across borders, and production continues to this day at its factory in Southern California.
It's safe to say that what made Rickenbacker a globally recognized name was a single guitar exhibited at the 1958 trade show! (Model 325) This guitar later became famous as the first Rickenbacker owned by John Lennon, one of the greatest icons in the rock world, and had a huge impact on the music scene that followed!
This is a 325 V59 Mapleglo JL Modified, featuring modifications throughout that are inspired by John Lennon's first Rickenbacker 325, a 1958 model from his so-called Hamburg period! Unlike the 1958 model with its alder body and neck, this 325 V59, like the Miami-era models, has a semi-hollow maple body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The double-layer pickguard has been removed, leaving a single layer. The knobs have also been replaced from cat-eye knobs to aluminum ones. The bridge has also been replaced from the original to a bow-tie style aluminum bridge. The Bigsby B-5 has had its handle replaced. The tuners have been replaced from Schaller Kluson-type tuners to open-back tuners. The truss rod cover screws have been replaced from the original brass screws to slotted screws, reminiscent of the 1958 model. The jack plate has also been replaced, from the original jack plate with serial number "XH0792" to a wider, longer type. Other modifications include replacing the pickup mounting screws and rubber parts.
The guitar comes with the original cat's eye knobs, original bridge, Bigsby B-5 handle, three original Phillips head screws for the truss rod cover, the two-layer section of the original pickguard and three screws for attaching the pickguard, an original Schaller Kluson-type tuner set, pickup mounting screws, and rubber parts.
John Lennon's first 1958 325 was later refinished in black (Jetglo), but it was eventually replaced as his main guitar by a new 1964 325 (from his Miami period) gifted to him by Rickenbacker. This particular 325 is in its original Jetglo (black) finish and features a semi-hollow maple body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard.
This modified model incorporates the thoughts and feelings behind the specifications of John Lennon's beloved guitars from various periods!
As a vocalist and composer, this guitar embodies the essence of his songs, and is an indispensable piece for his powerful rhythm guitar work! When you play it, you'll be captivated by its perfect fit, versatility, and clear, warm, and chord-filled sound!
The 325's short scale provides an exquisite fit and compact body size, giving the player a blissful sense of unity! Once you play it, you'll understand why John Lennon was so captivated by this model and why he loved using it.
You'll experience firsthand that this is a rare model capable of creating a powerful groove that forms the core of a song without putting undue strain on the performer!
The sound of the three Toaster Top Pickups used is also exquisite. They can create a wide range of backing sounds that respond to vocals, and will greatly stimulate the player's inspiration!
The 325 V59 features a semi-hollow maple body. The top wood boasts a beautiful appearance with a moderate amount of bird's-eye grain. Combined with Rickenbacker's own designed and manufactured pickups, it produces a clear, well-defined, deep, and beautiful sound that cannot be replicated by other manufacturers' products—a sound that is unmistakably Rickenbacker!
The neck, like the body, is made of maple, with a narrow 1 5/8-inch nut width and a short 20 3/4-inch scale length, creating the Model 325's uniquely comfortable and easy-to-play playability and exquisite fit.
My current setup uses flatwound D'Addario ECG25 .012-052 gauges.
You can also experience the perfect tension that makes it just right and comfortable to play.
The fingerboard has a unique texture due to the clear coat applied to the entire surface of the rosewood fingerboard. The position markers are dots. There are 21 frets.
The 325 series uses Toaster Top Pickups.
This pickup combines the clear, articulate tone characteristic of single-coil pickups with just the right amount of sweetness! It produces a clear, well-defined sound with excellent chord definition that won't overpower the vocals in a band ensemble! This magical sound has captivated the hearts of many musicians, including John Lennon!
The 3-way switch allows you to select between front + center, front + center + rear, and rear pickups. The controls consist of 2 volume and 2 tone knobs.
We've just received a recommended used item! It's estimated to be from 1984.
As mentioned earlier, this is a guitar that has been modified to resemble John Lennon's style!
The replaced parts are included.
Other than that, there are some minor scratches and dents throughout, noticeable buckle marks on the back of the body, paint peeling, dents around the headstock, stand burn marks on the neck, wear on the fretboard near the first fret, dirt inside the truss rod cover, minor scratches on the back of the headstock and neck, and tarnishing of the parts, but none of these affect playability. It shows signs of use, but it's a guitar with a great character! We have performed a full maintenance and cleaning at our shop, so it is ready to use immediately. There are quite a few scratches and dents, but it is a recommended used guitar with plenty of character!
The frets have been leveled and it's ready to use. Approximately 70% of the fret life remains.
The nuts are currently functional and there are no issues with their use. The truss rod also functions normally and there are no problems with its adjustment.
The electrical system has also been fully checked, so there are no problems with its operation.
The included accessories are as follows:
Original hard case (key not included).
Replacement parts (original cat's eye knob, original bridge, Bigsby B-5 handle, original Phillips head screws for truss rod cover x3, original pickguard 2-layer section and pickguard mounting screws x3, original Schaller Kluson-type tuner set, pickup mounting screws, rubber parts)
What message would John Lennon have for us if he were alive today?
"War Is Over!!" This modified pre-owned item will bring back that passionate feeling and era!
Don't miss this opportunity!
