The ATELIER Z was born as the signature model of leading Japanese bassist Tomohito Aoki, and its high level of perfection has earned it a reputation as an all-around active bass guitar with many users, both professional and amateur. The previous Beta model was based on the concept of 24 frets and a compact body size, and it is also a popular model known for being the basis for the signature model "Beta6 MT Custom" of the extremely technical bassist "Mutsumi," who has recently gained popularity on YouTube and social media for his easy-to-understand yet highly accurate practice videos and his online salon "Mutsumi's Bass School," which boasts a large number of members.
Compared to the flagship Magnitude series, it still boasts a small, easy-to-handle body, a bold heel-cut joint system, and 24 frets for excellent playability. The newly adopted string retainer and heel-cut neck joint make it even easier to play and more practical.
The split-coil pickups provide noiseless sound. The slanted pole pieces add dimension to the sound. The preamp is the 3-band "AZ-3B," specially developed for this model, offering three-band boost and cut for a wider range of sounds than ever before. The guitar also features removable finger lamps, which make quick passages easy to play.
Even with a low action setting, it produces a solid, resilient sound that doesn't give way, and produces bass tones that have a strong presence in a variety of ensembles and genres.
This guitar also features a custom transparent green finish, allowing the grain to show through for a cool look. The chrome hardware adds a unique charm that's a little different from the regular Beta 4.
