The Custom Telecaster was released in 1959 as a premium model of the regular Telecaster. It features an alder body, double binding on the top and back, and a sunburst finish.
This guitar has a maple fingerboard and was shipped around 1968. The neck pickup has been converted to a humbucker, making it a very interesting guitar.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.5 kg. The body is made of alder. It features Fender's familiar "Thick Skin" finish, a vibrant three-tone sunburst with a strong reddish hue, and beautiful double binding. The neck pickup position has been converted to a humbucking pickup. The pickguard and bridge have been replaced with a 6-way style. While there is weather checking, dents with peeling paint, and tarnished metal parts consistent with the instrument's age, it is in relatively good condition considering its age.
【neck】
The neck is made of maple with a maple fingerboard, commonly known as "laminated maple." The back of the neck has been reshaped to a slightly slimmer shape. There is weather checking and minor dents around the headstock, but like the body, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners have been replaced from the original Fender F key with Kluson Deluxe tuners, and although there is some unevenness in the winding, they function well. The frets and nut have been replaced once, and although there is some wear near the low frets, playability is good. The back of the neck and fingerboard were repainted when the neck was reshaped and refretted (notes from the reshape can be seen near the neck joint). The headstock thickness is 14.8mm. The nut width is 41.4mm.
[Electrical system]
The controls are a current-wiring 3-way pickup selector (neck/mix/bridge), volume, and tone, allowing for pickup mix selection. The neck (front) pickup is a rare PAF model humbucker by "MAX." The bridge (rear) pickup is a gray bobbin pickup from the same period, with rewind adjustments. The pots and switch have been replaced with new ones. With exceptional response, a clear and thick neck position, and a crisp bridge position that's not too harsh, this guitar will be a hit in a variety of situations.
