Fender USA VINTAGE Telecaster Deluxe '74 Natural/M

Debuting in 1950 as the Broadcaster, the Telecaster has since reigned alongside the Stratocaster as one of Fender's flagship guitar models. Not only is it an original Fender model, but inspired models have also been produced by various other manufacturers, making it a truly classic electric guitar.

This is the Telecaster Deluxe, a two-humbucker model that first appeared in 1973. It features newly introduced, exclusive parts in various sections, and boasts special specifications such as a bullet truss rod, micro-tilt neck, and back contouring, making it an ambitious variation of the Telecaster model.

The overall weight is approximately 4.4 kg. While the outer shape is that of a Telecaster, it incorporates new specifications of the time, such as a contoured back, a large pickguard, two humbuckers, and a custom bridge (later adopted for the Starcaster and Lead series). Because of the natural finish, the body is made of ash, and the combination of the unique wood grain and black pickguard gives it a look that is typical of the 1970s. One of its charms is that you can feel the difference in both the look and sound compared to alder-bodied models. There are some weather checking, dents, and tarnishing on the metal parts, but it is in relatively good condition.

The large headstock is eye-catching, and the neck/fingerboard is made of a single piece of maple. It actively incorporates new Fender specifications, such as a bullet truss rod tightened from the headstock and a 3-bolt micro-tilt neck. While there are signs of use, such as dents on the fretboard and metal parts, it is in relatively good condition, similar to the body. The Schaller Rotomatic tuners with the "Fender" logo, which would later be featured on numerous models, first appeared on the Telecaster Deluxe. The winding tension is slightly inconsistent, but they function well. The frets and nut have been replaced once, and playability is good. The fretboard surface was repainted during the refretting. Headstock thickness: 14.6mm. Nut width: 41.2mm. It features a relatively clean neck shape.

[Electrical System]
The controls are the same as on a Telecaster Custom, consisting of a 3-way pickup selector, neck volume, bridge volume, neck tone, and bridge tone. The pickups are two Fender Wide Range humbuckers, familiar from their use on Telecaster Thinlines and other guitars, designed by guitar designer Seth Lover during his time at Fender. The pickup selector switch has been replaced.

This guitar boasts the fullness and power characteristic of a wide-range humbucker, while also offering the crisp highs and clear separation typical of Fender guitars. The combination of an ash body and maple neck further enhances its appeal, producing a warm and lustrous tone in clean tones and a powerful, impactful sound when overdriven, making it suitable for a wide range of genres.
