Description
[Body]
The total weight is approximately 3.6 kg. The body is made of maple with contoured top and back. The ebony black finish and black pickguard give it a sharp look. There is weather checking commensurate with its age, as well as dents and scratches throughout and tarnishing on the metal parts, giving it a wonderful vintage guitar feel, while the paint itself retains its shine.
【neck】
The neck, featuring a Flying V-style headstock, is made of maple with a bolt-on (detachable) joint. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. There are signs of use such as minor dents and tarnishing on the metal parts, giving it a lovely vintage feel, just like the body. The 4th string tuner has been replaced; there is some slight inconsistency in the tightness of the winding, but it functions properly. The frets and nut are on the lower side, but they have been leveled and adjusted, resulting in good playability. The nut width is 43.2mm. It can be said that the neck shape is relatively clean compared to other Gibson guitars.
[Electrical System]
The S-1 features a unique toggle switch + rotary switch configuration. The toggle switch is a 2-way switch with [Bypass/Rear Pickup Preset]. The 4-way rotary switch operates as follows: [1. Front + Center Series (Humbucker) / 2. Center + Rear Series (Humbucker) / 3. Front + Center + Rear Mix / 4. Front + Rear Phase Series]. It is equipped with three "High frequency" pickups developed by Bill Lawrence specifically for the S-1 model. The control system parts, including the pickups, have been kept in their original condition.
Featuring pickups with a clear and crisp sound character and bright wood materials, this guitar allows you to enjoy a wide range of sound shaping, including single-coil, humbucker-like, and phase-out sounds. Despite being a 3-single-coil model, its distinctive character sets it apart from typical F-series sounds.
