A highly recommended, high-quality used MBS 1967 Rosewood Telecaster NOS Master Built By Andy Hicks, an ambitious reinterpretation of the legendary rosewood Telecaster, is now in stock! Manufactured in 2023.

The Fender Custom Shop is a section established in 1987 to create the finest guitars under the Fender brand, using carefully selected materials from the wood sourced by Fender and employing traditional handcrafting techniques and advanced manufacturing methods. Inheriting the long-standing tradition and technology of Fender, this section offers a lineup of truly top-of-the-line instruments, including one-of-a-kind models like the Masterbuilder Series, assembled by a limited number of staff.
Many of the tools used in their production are the same ones that were used back then. The instruments, created with the meticulous attention to detail of staff who are intimately familiar with Fender guitar know-how, boast the finest quality and sound to satisfy the player, and will become a reliable companion that you can cherish for a lifetime.

This is Andy's version of a rosewood Telecaster, featuring unique details.
Inspired by the rosewood Telecaster made famous by George Harrison, this instrument, crafted by master builder Andy Hicks, is a spec piece born from the builder's own ideas and individuality.

Andy Hicks enrolled in the Hollywood Guitar Craft Academy in 2009. Within a week of graduating, he began working as a fret dresser at the Jackson Custom Shop. From 2013 to 2018, he apprenticed under Stefan Stern, a senior master builder at the Gretsch Custom Shop, honing his skills as an assistant. During this time, Andy worked with various artists and was involved in the creation of the Malcolm Young Salute Jet.
In 2018, he served as lead builder and production manager at Xotic Guitars, a company known for its custom effects pedals such as the EP Booster. Later, he was scouted by James Tyler and went on to oversee production at James Tyer Guitars, the king of component guitar brands, in the San Fernando Valley.

And after returning to Fender, he was promoted to Fender Custom Shop Master Builder – a testament to his exceptional talent!
He says, "It's incredibly exciting and humbling to be back at Fender, part of one of the industry's most prestigious custom shops, and surrounded by talented builders. It also feels like coming home."
When it comes to guitars, Andy is passionate about both playing and making them. He believes these two passions are closely intertwined with his approach to guitar making. "I love interacting with guitarists. There's nothing more rewarding than listening to their requests and translating them into a guitar," he says.

The original rosewood Telecaster was born in the late 1960s and now boasts a classic look.
The body is finished with an oil finish, which is said to produce a better natural resonance.
A finish has been selected that allows you to enjoy the natural texture and appearance of the rosewood more directly, further enhancing the warmth and unique presence of the wood itself. The pickguard is made of black anodized aluminum. You can enjoy a hard, resonant sound, and it matches the oil-finished body perfectly!

The body has a chambered structure with the inside hollowed out. Rosewood is heavier than ash or alder, so we focused on making it as lightweight as possible.
The white linear section between the front and rear body is a center piece made of maple wood sandwiched inside, and like the original, it is one of the important details that give this instrument its distinctive character.

The neck is also made of oil-finished rosewood. It has a 60s-style oval C shape, with a 3A grade rosewood fingerboard round-laminated to it. The position markers are made of ornate abalone. The fingerboard radius is a relatively flat 12 inches, and 21 medium jumbo frets have been selected, giving it modern playability.
It uses staggered-type tuning pegs. They are attached by securing them with washers from the front of the headstock, so no screw holes are left on the back of the headstock.

The guitar features two hand-wound Twisted Tele pickups, crafted by master winder Josefina Campos. While retaining the 1960s specifications, the number of windings has been increased for enhanced power. Alnico 5 magnets and Formvar-coated wire are combined, and the wire winding method differs between the front and rear pickups. Although it has a familiar look, it is a special instrument that is unique both inside and out.

This is an exceptional piece that exudes a distinct individuality, blending traditional and modern elements!

We've just received a great deal of high-quality used items! These are from 2023.
While there are some minor scratches and tarnishing on the parts, this guitar is in beautiful condition overall! There are no issues or problems affecting playability. We have performed a full maintenance and cleaning at our shop, so it is a highly recommended guitar that you can use right away.

The frets are in good working order and have almost all of their life remaining. The nut is also in good working order and the truss rod can be adjusted normally.

The electrical system has also been fully checked, so there are no problems with its operation.

The weight is approximately 3.95 kg. It has a balanced design that produces a solid, focused sound.

Accessories include the original hard case, key, certificate of authenticity, spec sheet, and bridge cover.
