Description
Description
Since its debut in 1958, the Flying V has remained beloved by guitarists worldwide. Even those unfamiliar with guitars have likely seen its iconic rock-and-roll body shape, which is one of its main attractions.
This is a mahogany-bodied Flying V, originally shipped around 1976, which made a spectacular comeback as a limited edition.
【body】
The total weight is approximately 3.2 kg. The body is made of mahogany. The familiar Flying V-shaped, sharp body is finished in a natural color that allows the wood grain to be seen. Weather checking, paint peeling from a belt buckle on the back of the body, dents and scratches, discoloration due to age, and tarnishing of parts are visible, giving it a wonderful vintage instrument feel despite being relatively clean. The pickup cover has been removed and a pickup ring has been added.
【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. The headstock is natural-colored, just like the body. The back of the headstock shows the "LIMITED EDITION" marking and serial number from when it was first re-released. There is some weather checking, dents, discoloration due to age, and tarnishing of the metal parts, but like the body, it is in relatively clean and good condition. The tuner knob for the second string is slightly bent, but the winding is fairly consistent and it functions well. The nut has been replaced at our workshop WSR, and the frets have been replaced once, so the playability is good. The nut width is 40.5mm. It can be said to have a relatively solid neck shape.
[Electrical System]
The controls consist of a 3-way pickup selector, a volume control for the front (neck) pickup, a volume control for the rear (bridge) pickup, and a master tone control. It is equipped with two original T-top pickups (the covers have been removed), and the control components, including the pickups, are original to the guitar.
It features a thick mid-low range while maintaining the well-defined attack characteristic of a T-top humbucker. The neck pickup delivers a thick, glossy clean tone to sweet lead tones, while the bridge pickup produces a powerful, punchy drive sound, allowing you to fully enjoy the vintage Gibson sound reminiscent of 1970s hard rock and blues rock.
