Roland's sampling pads, beloved by drummers and percussionists worldwide, have been reborn with even more refined performance capabilities. A lightweight and compact body condenses professional-quality playability and sampling functions. As a powerful percussion pad that opens up new possibilities for drumming, and as a live sampler that expands the expressive range of a band, it excels in a wide range of musical scenes, delivering exceptional performance.

The SPD-SX features six large, comfortable pads, plus three edge triggers for easy targeting with the stick's shoulder. LED indicators on each pad light up during sample playback, allowing you to check the pad's position and status even on a dark stage. Kit names and other information are clearly displayed on a large, backlit LCD panel. Essential performance information is instantly visible, enabling comfortable real-time performance. With stage presence in mind, the sides of the unit utilize a sharp, high-quality aluminum material. The sleek black base with vibrant red lines separating the pads creates a timeless design.

● Equipped with carefully selected specifications to meet the needs of professionals.
The SPD-SX is designed for full professional use, with meticulous attention to detail evident in every aspect of its specifications. Its robust body withstands the rigors of touring and other demanding conditions, and it features 2GB of built-in memory. It delivers CD-quality (16-bit/44.1kHz) audio, allowing for up to approximately 25 hours (monaural) of recordings and 10,000 samples. USB memory can be used for backups. In addition to the master output, it includes a sub-out, allowing for the output of only the sound of a specified pad, or the click track to the headphone output only. A dedicated volume knob and start button for the click track are located on the control panel for intuitive operation on stage. Furthermore, it is equipped with trigger inputs that can connect up to four pads, allowing for system expansion by adding more pads.

For drummers and percussionists, spontaneous inspiration is paramount. However, if the sampling process itself is cumbersome, it's impossible to fully utilize those precious performance ideas. That's why the SPD-SX features a multi-pad sampling function that enables intuitive sampling simply by hitting the pads with your sticks. Once you input your music source, the unit will sample each pad as you hit it. The samples are automatically assigned to the pads, so there's no need for complicated settings, and you can start playing immediately. The sampling method itself has been optimized for drummers and percussionists, allowing you to easily test and bring your ideas to life. You'll never miss a precious moment of inspiration again.

● Three multi-effects systems that produce real-time tonal changes.
A must-have feature for live performances using a sampler is the multi-effects system, which allows for flexible tonal changes. The SPD-SX features a total of three multi-effects systems: two that can be set per kit, plus a master effect for the final stage. You switch between effects using the four buttons on the panel: [FILTER], [DELAY], [S.LOOP (short looper)], and [FX], and then simply turn the two control knobs. It is designed for ease of use in live performances. Of course, you can assign your favorite effect from the multi-effects system to [FX]. With simple and intuitive operation, you can create varied and effective performances.

●Connects to a PC via USB. Samples can also be managed with the included software.
The SPD-SX offers even greater flexibility with its USB connection to a PC. It supports USB audio, allowing direct sampling of PC playback audio. This significantly increases sampling freedom, as sounds from web browsers and media players (video/music) can be directly captured. Furthermore, it comes standard with dedicated software, "SPD-SX Wave Manager" (compatible with both Windows and Mac), which allows importing audio data (WAV/AIFF) from a PC into the SPD-SX unit. Beyond importing, it also allows for sample management, including assigning samples to pads, renaming, and grouping. It also supports USB MIDI, allowing it to be used as a MIDI input pad for music production software, fully demonstrating its capabilities in music production scenarios.
