Description
Description
Since its founding in 1982, MAYONES (also pronounced Mayones/Mayones/Mayones) has gained popularity mainly in Europe and the United States with its unique lineup and reliable quality. With top players such as Hadrien Feraud, Mohini Dey, and Federico Malaman among its user list, this Eastern European Polish instrument manufacturer is also gaining recognition and a strong reputation in Japan.
The Jabba model in Mayones' lineup features a refined body design and sound based on the traditional J-type, along with 24 frets.
This instrument incorporates the multi-scale (fanned fret) specification, which has recently gained acceptance as a new standard. By using a 35-inch scale on the 5th string side and a 33-inch scale on the 1st string side, it produces a well-balanced sound from a tight bass to a soft, mid-range-rich treble, compared to the typical 34-inch scale of a 4-string bass.
Despite being a multi-scale instrument, it can use strings designed for extra-long scale (super-long scale) guitars, making it easier to choose your preferred brand and gauge, which is another advantage of this instrument.
Sassafras, the wood used for the body, has a similar grain structure to ash, but it is a different type of wood. It has a softer tone than ash and has been used in musical instruments since ancient times.
The neck is made of maple, the fingerboard is ebony, and the pickups and preamp are Mayones' original Velvetrone Noble VF PU and Musashi 3EQ. The crispness and responsiveness of the ebony, combined with the split-coil pickup and soft tonewood, makes it easy to blend into an ensemble. When played with only the neck pickup, it produces a warm and punchy sound similar to a P-type guitar. It's recommended not only for the fingerstyle and chord playing that Mayones are known for, but also for creating loud sounds with down tuning, pick playing, and slap techniques.
This is a rare V-Fret model that doesn't come around often, so please give it a try!
