~YD-9000R~
Featuring a 100% birch shell, one-piece lugs, and a beautifully glossy paint finish, this model, which first appeared in the late 1970s as part of the YD9000 series, can be considered the origin of Yamaha's system drums.
At the time, maple was the most popular drum shell material and became a staple in American jazz drum sets.
Meanwhile, through research on pianos and wind instruments, we realized that birch wood was an ideal material for drum shells. We also applied piano manufacturing techniques to drums, avoiding the veneer covering method that was common at the time, and opting for a painted finish. All of Yamaha's technological capabilities were poured into this historic model.
By combining a hard birch shell with one-piece lugs, this instrument achieves a sharper and more solid sound, making it the envy of top drummers worldwide.
Its sound was said to be ideal for recording, and the YD9000 became the most widely used drum set in recording history.
The name YD9000 was later changed to "Recording Custom," and it is still widely used today.

-SD955R-
We have received a shipment of the "YD-9000R" snare drum, which was manufactured for a limited period between 1979 and 1980.
Even now, more than 40 years after its initial release, this model remains a favorite among many users and was Yamaha's top-of-the-line model at the time.
Featuring a shell crafted from 100% carefully selected, high-quality birch wood and equipped with high-tension lugs, this drum boasts exceptional sound projection. Its tight, stable sound, characteristic of high-tension lugs, has earned it a reputation as a drum that takes microphones very well.
The shell's interior and edges are meticulously painted, contributing to a solid and sharp sound. It boasts a well-balanced sound with a quick attack and strong mid-low frequencies.
With its controlled attack and smooth decay, the YD-9000R is a masterpiece that has been used by many top drummers as the most suitable drum for recording.
It uses a snare wire with long snare wires that cover the entire surface, so even with a light touch or roll, the sound does not clip and resonates clearly.
A double-bolt system allows for fine adjustment of the snare tension. 10 bolts enable precise tuning.
This is an excellent product that can handle a wide range of music, from rock to pop, jazz to wind band music.
