The top-of-the-line FG grade is currently available in limited quantities!
Be sure to get your hands on that unparalleled sound!
【FG9 R】
Handcrafted in Japan, the FG9 features an Adirondack spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, resulting in a powerful volume and clear sound that's perfect for singer-songwriters.
The FG9 rosewood is characterized by its deep bass and extended treble.
◆Features: The FG9, a flagship model handcrafted in Japan by a master of sound, is an acoustic guitar with a very rich volume, clear sound, and a wide range of expressive capabilities that respond to the player's playing style, making it an ideal instrument for singer-songwriters.
• Powerful volume and clear sound extension
The FG9 delivers the powerful volume characteristic of a dreadnought style guitar while simultaneously allowing for nuanced expression with its clear tone extension, making it particularly well-suited for vocal accompaniment.
This new dreadnought style guitar combines "power" and "clarity" to respond to the performer's expression, offering both the "quick response and powerful volume" required for a dreadnought style, and the "clarity" that is a hallmark of Yamaha acoustic guitars.
Tapered edge Adirondack spruce
The FG9's top plate is made of Adirondack spruce with tapered edges, and the thickness of the back plate has been increased to enhance its performance as a reflector. This strengthens the acoustic radiation originating from the top plate, increases structural strength, and allows the body to vibrate efficiently, contributing to both power and sensitivity.
• Bolt-on neck joint: The neck features a new structural design that combines bolt-on and glued sections, enhancing body vibration and improving maintainability.
The neck and body joint is finished and adjusted with high precision, and the design concentrates the vibrational energy of the strings and body into the body.
• Elegant and understated Japanese aesthetics: The distinctive position markers on the fretboard are similar to Japanese kumiki (traditional Japanese woodworking), and the rope-like inlay and purfling design around the soundhole are based on Japanese culture.
・A simple yet luxurious design: The inner label visible through the soundhole uses washi paper, the position markers feature a design reminiscent of kumiki (traditional Japanese woodworking), and the soundhole and body lines are adorned with rope inlays and rope binding that evoke the traditional Japanese shimenawa rope.
• A scientific approach integrated with technology
In designing the FG9, we employed state-of-the-art acoustic and 3D structural measurement processes to understand as much as possible how the physical structure affects the acoustic properties, and repeatedly produced prototypes by skilled custom shop builders.
