Fender USA VINTAGE Jazz Bass '67 Sunburst/R

Since its release in 1960, the Jazz Bass has been a flagship model for Fender, alongside the Precision Bass, and continues to influence the music scene. Numerous variations and reissue models have been produced by the original manufacturer, as well as inspired models by it from other companies, solidifying its position as a standard model for electric basses.

This particular guitar was shipped around 1967, shortly after the minor change from dot position markers to block position markers.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.05 kg. The body is made of alder. It is beautifully finished in a unique 3-tone sunburst color from this period, with a yellow base coat. There is some weather checking, dents, scratches, paint chipping on the back due to a belt buckle, and tarnishing of the metal parts, which are commensurate with its age. While it has a good vintage feel, it is in remarkably clean condition considering its age. Metal covers are included.

【neck】
The neck is made of maple, and the fingerboard is rosewood. The neck date is confirmed to be December 1966. The decal logo on the headstock is faded in some areas but is still clearly visible. There is weather checking throughout the neck, dents and paint peeling from use on the back of the neck, and tarnishing on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in good condition with a nice atmosphere. The tuners are paddle type and function properly, although they are a bit stiff to wind. The frets and nut have been replaced, and the playability is good. The headstock thickness is 16.2mm. The nut width is 37.9mm. It has the narrow nut characteristic of a Jazz Bass and a relatively solid neck shape with even thickness.

[Electrical System]
The controls are the familiar Jazz Bass style: neck (front) volume, bridge (rear) volume, and master tone. It features two gray bobbin pickups with clearly visible dating. The control components, including the pickups, are in their original condition.

This bass boasts a warm, thick tone based on the rich low end characteristic of Jazz Basses from this era, while also offering a well-balanced sound with a delicate, responsive attack. It combines a full, rich presence from the lows to the midrange with the just-right edge unique to Jazz Basses. Rolling down the tone further enhances the mellow, woody sound, allowing you to enjoy a versatile old-school Jazz Bass sound that fits well with a wide range of musical genres from that era, including soul, R&B, funk, and rock.
