Description
Description
The D-28 is Martin's most famous model and a classic that can be considered the standard for modern acoustic guitars.
Based on the serial number and specifications, it is estimated to have been manufactured around 1967.
While T-bar rods existed until 1967, this particular instrument is a first-year example of the transitional SQ rod.
It is generally said that Martin guitars were made with Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda) until around 1969, and based on the year of manufacture and the wood grain, this instrument is undoubtedly made of Brazilian rosewood.
☆The following repairs are performed upon arrival of the product.
- Neck reset - Fret, nut, and saddle replacement - Top and back bracing detachment and re-gluing - Bridge plate veneer re-gluing - Back binding re-gluing
★There are signs that the following modifications were made prior to the item being received.
- The entire surface has multiple layers of overcoat (painted over the weather checks).
- Cracks and glue marks on both ends of the saddle - Repair marks on a broken neck (It doesn't appear to be a complete break, but rather repair marks on a minor crack)
- Bridge re-gluing marks - Binding repair marks - Side crack repair marks
There are many areas that need repair or modification, but no critical cracks in the wood are visible.
The instrument has been repaired and set up upon arrival, so it is in excellent playability.
The included case is a Victoria Luggage black case, which we believe to be original, but it shows some damage commensurate with its age.
The powerful, deep, and richly resonant sound is characteristic of Brazilian rosewood.
Combined with the thick SQ neck, it perfectly captures the magnificent resonance of the dreadnought body, resulting in a sophisticated and brilliant yet calm and cohesive musical sound.
They say you mellow with age; is that what's happening here?
It shows signs of heavy use and battle history, but it was perfectly set up when it arrived at our store.
This is a guitar I can confidently recommend to anyone looking for a vintage Martin that can be reliably used on stage.
