Description
Description
Noble & Cooley, a long-established handmade manufacturer with over 150 years of history, produces its products at its factory in Granville, Massachusetts.
By using the finest wood from the New England region and focusing on the quality of materials and beautiful parts design, we have been providing unparalleled sound quality for many years.
This is one of Noble & Cooley's signature models, featuring a solid maple top with solid maple reinforcement.
Known for its supple and delicate touch, it blends seamlessly into ensembles and musical pieces while exhibiting a sensitive response to intricate stickwork.
This model, manufactured with Noble & Cooley's extremely precise craftsmanship, boasts a unique depth of 3.875 inches. Despite its shallow body, it delivers the warm, rich tone characteristic of solid wood construction, resulting in a highly responsive and crisp yet focused stick sound.
-The Industry Legend-
The SS Classic, Noble & Cooley's first professional-grade drum product, boasts a perfect combination of elegance and resonance, and is a favorite among artists worldwide.
This snare drum was the first modern steam-vented solid-shell drum, and since its introduction in the early 1980s, it has been used in countless recordings, solidifying its reputation as a top manufacturer of the world's finest drums. And even today, it continues to be the choice of professional players.
-SOLID SHELL-
The solid rock maple (or other native hardwood) is hand-picked to maintain grain consistency and undergoes a time-honored steam bending process. The single-ply shell vibrates more freely than the multi-ply shells commonly used, giving the SS Classic warmth and a delicate touch.
-BEARING EDGE-
The bearing edge is the point of contact between the shell and the drumhead.
The precision of the bearing edge's machining determines the drum's tone and tunability.
The edges of Noble & Cooley speakers are lathe-machined to produce maximum resonance and projection.
The bearing edges, precisely machined to within 1/10,000th of an inch, are hand-cut and checked twice on a machine-grade granite plane. This precision ensures consistent pitch and tuning range.
-NODAL POINT LUG MOUNTING-
Nordle Point Technology is a proprietary patent of Noble & Cooley.
By positioning the lug posts at the nodal points of the natural wavelength of the shell vibration, the vibrations that produce the original tone are not affected by the mass of the lugs. The shell itself contributes to the drum's ultimate tone.
