Description
The "70th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster" was created to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the world's greatest electric guitar, the "STRATOCASTER"!
A recommended high-quality used limited edition reissue model of the very first 1954 Stratocaster, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2024!
This guitar boasts a beautiful ash wood grain and a stunning Wide-Fade 2-Color Sunburst finish, making it incredibly stylish!
This guitar features an offset (high-string side) ash body, specially selected by our wood selection specialists for our custom shop, with the glued surface not in the center position, resulting in a singing high, sweet midrange, and tight low end. Of course, the elbow and back contours are processed to match the original shape, so the elbow contour has a shallow finish. The shallow radius on the top side of the high-string joint is also noteworthy. The pickguard is an 8-screw, 1-ply parchment guard.
Just like the body, the neck is made of carefully selected quarter-sawn, one-piece maple. The fingerboard radius is a compound radius of 7.25R-9.5R, which is used in the Vintage Custom series, and the frets are medium vintage size with a narrow width and height.
The body and neck finish is an all-lacquer finish, just like vintage guitars. The relic finish features irregular weather checking and paint chipping in places. The back of the neck has been stripped from the 1st to the 12th fret, revealing the wood grain for a smooth playing feel. The neck finish has a clear coat that has faded to an amber color, and the dirt around the frets has also been reproduced. The neck grip is a "70th ANN 07/54 Soft V" shape, measured from a guitar produced in July 1954. The thickness changes little from the low to high positions, giving it a grip feel similar to a C-shape. While grip thickness is a matter of personal preference, this shape and thickness should feel comfortable for anyone to play.
The hardware includes a synchronized tremolo with a PAT.PEND. stamped saddle, and vintage-style Fender-stamped Kluson tuners. The string guide on the headstock is, of course, a disc type.
Fender Custom Shop guitars, known for their clear acoustic resonance thanks to their bolt-on construction, stand out even among other Fender models. The sense of airiness and thickness of sound when amplified is on another level. Furthermore, the resonance achieved through the relic finish allows you to fully experience the vibration of the body and neck with just one chord. This overwhelming acoustic resonance is so pleasant to play that you could play it forever without even needing an amp, and it's a quality that can only be experienced with a Custom Shop guitar!
The pickups that reproduce its superb tone are all hand-wound. Compared to regular machine-wound pickups, they produce a richer harmonic content and an acoustic feel when outputted from the amplifier. The model equipped with a '54 STRAT single-coil pickup has a full yet firm tone, and the lower pole piece on the 3rd string gives the impression of good volume balance for the plain strings. The exquisite resonance and robust clean tone, especially in the center position, is irresistible.
The controls utilize a 5-way lever switch, but the bridge pickup has a tone bypass, giving it a vintage feel. The bridge pickup's clean, gritty single-coil sound also contributes to the vintage tone, which is great.
The warm sound of the neck and middle pickups when the tone knob is rolled off, thanks to the use of wax paper capacitors, is also appealing. The ability to balance the tone from the neck to the bridge by slightly turning down the volume is a feature unique to vintage wiring.
This 2024 limited edition model features knobs made with materials and shapes from 1954, giving it a look that's instantly recognizable as a "'54 Stratocaster!" even from a distance. Furthermore, the neck plate is a special design with the Fender Custom Shop logo and "70TH ANNIVERSARY 1954 - 2024 STRATOCASTER" engraved on it. The back panel also features a circular string hole with the serial number engraved on it.

The frets are in good working order and have almost all of their life remaining. The nut is also in good working order and the truss rod can be adjusted normally.
