Description

This '68 Telecaster Thinline features a new old stock finish with a mahogany Thinline body and maple fingerboard, pursuing a vintage feel with a new interpretation and enhancing playability!

This guitar is based on a 1968 Telecaster Thinline with a veneer maple fretboard and neck, and features a 1967-shaped, Thinline-style mahogany body carefully selected by our wood selection specialists exclusively for the Custom Shop. The neck, like the body, is made of quarter-sawn maple, while the fingerboard is made of round-laminated maple with a compound radius of 7.25-9.5. The frets are medium-sized, with narrow widths and slightly tall frets.

The body finish is a lacquer top & WLS undercoat finish, a polyurethane base with a lacquer top coat. This uses a new old stock finish, giving it a beautiful look with no signs of use whatsoever.

The neck is finished in a burnt urethane paint, while the headstock is finished in a darker burnt lacquer finish. The Modern logo is placed under the top coat.

The neck grip is a 60 Style Oval C shape, which is often used on early 60s models. It has a slimmer shape even among Custom Shop models, and the grip doesn't feel too thick overall, making it a shape that many people will find comfortable to hold.

The hardware originally featured a through-the-back bridge with 3-way steel saddles, but now it is fitted with a BIGSBY B5 Fender TL Vibrato Kit, and the machine heads feature vintage-style F-key pegs.

The natural sound of this Custom Shop guitar, which surpasses even the most stringent standards among Fender guitars, is characterized by the clarity of its bolt-on construction, and the airiness and richness of the sound output from the amplifier are truly on another level. The lacquer top and WLS undercoat finish also give it a crisper, more solid sound than a standard lacquer finish.
Its overwhelming natural sound is so comfortable that you can play it forever without having to output it through an amplifier, and it's a quality that can only be experienced at a custom shop where you can enjoy a satisfying playing experience.

The pickups that produce this amazing sound are '67 Single-Coil Tele (enamel/Neck Alnico 2/Bridge Alnico 5).
It features a glossy, harmonically rich sound, and in mixed tones it produces a clear, speedy tone that creates a pleasant cutting tone. The overall compressed, crisp tone also produces a clear drive sound, and by turning down the volume after creating a sound with crunch or distortion, you can produce a crisp, thick sound.

The controls are those of a Modern Telecaster, with a master volume with high pass and a master tone using a wax paper capacitor, giving it a slightly modern feel while still providing straightforward and simple wiring.

It incorporates traditional elements while incorporating modern customizations throughout, making it a ready-to-use piece.
