Description

Bomber base with a fine grain quilted top.

Phoenix, produced by TUNE, a long-established Japanese component workshop, is a brand that specializes in custom models with even more specific specifications. This is the Phoenix JB-type model, the BOMBERBASS. This model features a fat sound that sets it apart from other active JB models. Its performance is so impressive that it outputs a satisfying bass tone that is enjoyed by young bassists, veteran bassists, and even beloved artists.

The body design is slightly more compact than the standard JB model. This model's body is crafted from traditional ash. The top is made of high-quality 5A quilted maple, carefully selected by our staff from several recommendations received from CEO Kanda. The large quilted maple grain is finished in a see-through pink, further enhancing the contrast. The single-piece maple neck and ebony fingerboard produce a fat sound image, creating a rich tone with powerful attack and a rich texture that captures even the most delicate touch. This model also boasts a sound suited to the "chopper" style, another face of the TUNE brand.

The combination of the Bomber Bass "BB-1" pickup and CLE-1 preamp produces a punchy, tight bass tone with a comfortable, clear sound. Its responsiveness to touch is complemented by a clear, twanging tone with just the right amount of wildness, yet a firm body that doesn't lose its place in an ensemble, making it ideal for rock. Of course, the bass also feels comfortable with its punchy slap sound and smooth fingerpicking. The thick, undulating tone, especially with thumbing, is a unique feature of this bass, as is the bold sound it produces, almost like a light boost with the controls. Its active sound, which provides the player with the solid support of a custom car, offers a high-quality feel that's invaluable in live performances and recording studios.

The attention to detail, such as the slightly thinner neck grip for easier playability and the heel treatment that improves playability in the higher positions, is also a welcome addition. The dynamic sound and lightweight design are also very appealing. A subtle touch is the 22-fret design. It's an instrument that invites dynamic playing with a large form. This is a model that has been produced in limited numbers recently. From fusion to vocal bassists, this is a reliable piece of gear that is especially recommended for bassists aiming to create the best ensemble. Please enjoy its true value.
