Description
Description
The Jazzmaster debuted in 1958. Its original specs were released until the late 1970s, and it never achieved stable popularity or sales. However, advances in replacement parts allowed for a wider range of arrangements, and its popularity soared again. Today, it's widely seen in professional settings, and is popular with people of all ages and genders as a guitar that can be used in real-world situations. It certainly feels like it's become a major model in the guitar world.
The latest arrival is a stunning piece that was shipped around 1963 and has been refinished in Dakota Red, making it a truly eye-catching piece.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.5 kg. The body is made of alder. It has been refinished from its original sunburst color to a vibrant Dakota Red color. The body is 39.2 mm thick near the end, slightly thinner than average for the period. Distinctive jig marks are clearly visible in the neck pocket, indicating the neck is close to its age. There is weather checking, aging of the pickguard, scratches, belt buckle marks on the back of the body, and rust and tarnish on the metal parts, but the guitar is in good condition, typical of a vintage instrument.
*Please note that due to the nature of body refinishing, we cannot guarantee 100% matching of the neck and body. Please ask our staff for details.
【neck】
The neck is made of maple. The fingerboard is made of the renowned, exquisite rosewood. The decals around the neck have been replaced along with the top coat being repaired. The tuners function well, although there is a slight bend in the first string knob and some inconsistency in the winding. The nut has been replaced and shows some wear near the low frets, but playability is good. The headstock is 13.3mm thick and the nut width is 41.2mm. The neck features a wide, relatively solid shape. The paint on the back of the neck has some wear due to use, giving it a smooth, vintage feel.
[Electrical system]
The controls are comprised of two sections, familiar to Jazzmasters: a 3-way pickup selector, master volume, and master tone, and a neck (front) pickup preset mode switch, preset volume, and preset tone. The pickups retain their original black bobbins. While the preset pots have been replaced, the other control parts remain in their original condition. The wide, flat coil structure produces a rich, deep tone, despite being a single coil. The lows are not too loose, the mids have a distinctive airiness, and the highs are pleasantly smooth. The main control provides a wide range of tones, from a clean tone with a rich yet clear sound to a lustrous crunch, fully capturing the sound of surf music, instrumentals, and early rock/pop music of the time. The preset mode produces an even warmer, fuller tone, creating a unique mood for chord work and mellow phrases.
