This flagship model of the BB series, produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ikebe Musical Instruments, comes in a special version with an original pickguard!

The body color is "shell white," which is elegant and subdued, yet makes a strong statement on stage. The black pickguard and headstock color enhance the overall impression, while also creating a fun contrast with the body color. While this color is not included in the catalog, it was realized based on the relationship between Ikebe Musical Instruments and Yamaha, making it a truly special model worthy of the 50th anniversary.

This successor to the BB2000 series retains the same silhouette while sporting a smaller body design. The three-ply laminated body, made of alder/maple/alder, offers increased strength and durability, while delivering a punchy, crisp sound. It also features a proprietary "IRA" treatment, which enhances the instrument's vibration, improving the wood's sound transmission and vibration efficiency, enhancing mid- and low-frequency extension and accelerating the attack and decay of high frequencies, resulting in a smooth, rich tone. The five-piece laminate neck, a refined version of the BB2000 series, combines maple and mahogany for a slimmer grip shape, while the fingerboard is made of rosewood. The headstock has also been resized to match the smaller body shape, and lightweight tuning machines are used to maintain optimal body balance. The overall silhouette of the instrument is slimmer, resulting in a more comfortable fit.

The neck joint is a 6-bolt miter joint, similar to that used on the ATTITUDE LTD III (Billy Sheehan model), with the bolts driven at a 45-degree angle toward the neck, creating a firmer seal and a more integrated neck and body for a powerful sound. The miter stringing bridge passes the strings through the back of the body at a 45-degree angle from the bridge saddle, reducing stress on the strings while firmly transmitting string vibrations to the body. The unique design technology and structure further enhance the instrument's rich sound.

The newly designed pickups were tested with over 100 prototypes during the development phase, testing them with the new BB. Through trial and error on the wire, magnet, rotation speed, and bobbin shape, the result is a high-grade Alnico 5 magnet PJ pickup that delivers improved output while still producing a vintage tone. Cylindrical pole pieces reduce noise, and the pickup covers feature a versatile design that can be customized to your liking. The controls have been changed from a pickup selector to a two-volume/one-tone design, allowing for fine-tuning of each pickup balance.

This model combines the technical structure and manufacturing techniques cultivated in the BB2000 series and later models, with a deep, rich, and powerful sound character that is well-balanced for the modern music scene. It offers a wide range and a straightforward sound, with the warm low end of a passive bass, a smooth and clear midrange, and a clear yet subdued high end, resulting in a high level of performance that has been further refined.

This is a special model that uses an original board for the pickguard from the acrylic specialist brand "Tokyo Acryl." This beautiful material, created by artisans who mix colors, draw patterns, and layer colors, is truly a work of art, and is then processed into a pickguard at our workshop, WSR. From the manufacturing process onward, everything is a one-off, strongly asserting the unique character of this model. While this is a standard model, it's perfect for those seeking a unique look that stands out from the crowd!
