Description

High quality second hand recommended item!
This is a high-quality pre-owned 2017 limited edition model! This 1960 Stratocaster NOS features a vintage 1960 style with modern customizations. The vibrant Dakota Red color makes this an eye-catching piece!

The Fender Custom Shop was established in 1987 to create the finest Fender guitars using carefully selected wood from Fender's inventory, utilizing traditional handcraftsmanship and advanced manufacturing techniques. The shop inherits the traditions and techniques of the long-established Fender company, and the lineup, assembled by a limited staff of custom shop staff, is truly top-notch, including one-of-a-kind models like the Master Builder Series.
Many of the tools used in the production are the same ones that were used back then. Crafted with the utmost care by staff members who are thoroughly versed in Fender guitar know-how, these instruments boast the finest quality and sound to satisfy any player, and are sure to become a reliable companion that you can enjoy for a lifetime.

This 2017 limited edition model is based on the 1960 model, which saw the introduction of rosewood fingerboards. The body is crafted from alder, specially selected for Custom Shop production, and finished with a gloss New Old Stock finish using a thin layer of nitrocellulose lacquer. This NOS finish produces the clear, crisp sound you expect from a NOS guitar. Many people prefer the clean look of an NOS guitar over the pre-finished relic or closet classic models, which often come with scratches and cracks.

The quarter-grain maple neck features a dark rosewood slab fingerboard. Like recent Custom Shop models, the fingerboard radius is 9.5R and the frets are Sanko #6105 mid-jumbo frets. Playability is excellent!
The neck shape is a 60s Oval C shape with a thin grip from low to high positions. The position markers are made with clay dots, newly created for the American Vintage Series. The neck finish is the same gloss finish as the body.

The pickguard is 11-hole/parchment, the bridge is a synchronized tremolo that was completed when the American Vintage Series was renewed, and the machine heads are vintage-type Kluson pegs.

Among Fender guitars, known for their crisp, natural tone, the Relic model with its rosewood fingerboard produces a rich, powerful tone. NOS models tend to have a sharper sound with more emphasis on the high frequencies than the Relic model. This particular guitar produces such a natural tone that you can fully feel the vibrations of the body and neck with just one chord. The rich, natural tone, even when played acoustically, is a quality only available in the Custom Shop.

The pickups that produce this tone are three hand-wound Custom Shop pickups. The neck and middle pickups are '60/'63 single coils, while the bridge pickup is a Strat El Diablo single coil. The neck and middle pickups offer a vintage-inspired sound with a clear, mild attack that varies depending on the position. The bridge position has a slightly higher output, creating an excellent balance with the neck and middle pickups. The bridge pickup's third-string pole piece is set low, providing excellent volume balance when playing arpeggios. The '60s-inspired body and warm, hand-wound tone make this guitar versatile enough for a wide range of genres.
The controls are from a VINTAGE MODIFIED STRAT #2. The 5-way lever/pickup selector features 250kΩ potentiometers for the master volume, neck/middle tone, and bridge tone. The volume control is a BLEED custom with a resistor connected to a ceramic capacitor, while Tone 1 (N&M) and Tone 2 (B) use FENDER paper oil capacitors matched to their respective positions. The volume control is BLEED custom, custom-tuned to prevent high frequencies from being cut off as the volume is turned down. The resistors preserve the midrange, ensuring a balanced sound without becoming too thin. The tone capacitor's value can also be adjusted depending on the position, allowing for a perfect balance at full volume and a warm sound when the tone is cut.

While the basic specs are similar to vintage models, the guitar also features a modern fingerboard radius, fret size, internal wiring, and other features that aim for a vintage sound while incorporating modern elements, making it a fantastic guitar that's ready to go right away!

We have a recommended high-quality used item in stock! It was made in 2017.
There are some small scratches, scuffs on the back of the body, small dents, jig marks, paint wear, and dull parts, but overall it is in good condition with little signs of use! It has been fully maintained and cleaned at our shop, so it is ready to use right away.
