Description
Description
Production of the 6128 Duo Jet began in 1953, and it was released as a solid-body model in 1954. Featuring a 13-1/2-inch (342.9mm) wide, 2-inch (50.8mm) thick mahogany body and a 24-1/2-inch (622.3mm) scale length mahogany set neck, this model is famously said to have competed with the solid-body models from G and F companies at the time. A variation model, the 6129 Silver Jet, was also listed in the catalog at the same time, but it seems that there were fewer of them than the black Duo Jet.
The guitar we are introducing today is a single cutaway shape guitar with a Filtertron pickup, shipped around 1961.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.0 kg. The body is a familiar design, with a silver sparkle nitron-coated maple-based laminate top, similar to that used on drums, and a one-piece chambered mahogany body. There is some aging-related wear, such as peeling of the nitron, weather-checking, some minor scratches, and some tarnish on the metal parts, but considering its age, it is in fairly good condition.
【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany. The fingerboard is made of ebony. There is weather checking on the headstock and some minor dents on the back of the neck, but like the body, it is in good condition. The tuners are Waverly open-back, and although there is some variation in the tightness of the windings, they function well. The frets and nut have only slight wear, and playability is good. The nut width is 42.8mm. The neck shape is relatively solid.
[Electrical system]
The controls are typical Gretsch electrics: a 3-way pickup selector, tone switch, master volume, and two volume controls. The pickups are the original Filter 'Trons. Based on the clear and light old Filter 'Tron pickups, this guitar offers a clear, elegant tone with a hollow feel.
