Grammy-winning engineer Chris Lord-Alge owns four 1176 Blue Stripe compressors, and Black Lion Audio has commercialized the special unit named BLUEY, which exudes a unique charm. This miraculous unit has been modified by various engineers, and now you can get the compressor sound heard on countless hit albums in the 500 series.
The Bluey 500 is a 500-compatible module version of the highly acclaimed Black Lion Audio Bluey. Grammy-winning mix engineer Chris Lord-Alge owned four 1176 Blue Stripe units, and noticed a unique allure in one of them when used on vocal tracks. He named it the Bluey. Years of maintenance and repair have made this miraculous unit a one-of-a-kind modified unit. Wanting to expand the channel count of this precious unit, he asked Black Lion Audio, a trusted source of modification technology, to analyze and produce the Black Lion Audio Bluey, a 2U compressor unit.
Since its release, BLUEY has been used in the production of numerous hit records.
The 500 Series now offers the compressor sound heard in numerous hit songs.

*Note about the Attack control:
Because Bluey is a direct reproduction of Chris Lord-Alge's modified unit, the Attack control works differently than a typical '76-style compressor. Turning the Attack knob left (counterclockwise) speeds up the attack time, and turning it right (clockwise) slows it down. We believe this is a more intuitive way to operate the compressor, similar to turning a volume knob left to decrease the volume and right to increase the volume.
Attack: Continuously variable 20µS to 800µS
Release: Continuously variable 1200mS - 50mS
