Description
Description
The GWB is Gary Willis' signature model, a 5-string fretless bass known for its simple yet easy-to-play sound. Currently, this instrument is produced by a renowned Japanese workshop in extremely limited quantities per year as an OEM. A long-selling model that continues from the GWB1 (1999), it still has a countless core fan base. Only Korea-made models and those from the Fujigen era appear on the market very rarely, and both are highly sought-after. This current model is also a surefire source of individual orders. This is a shop-ordered example of such a model, available for immediate delivery.
The basic specifications of this model, including a lightweight swamp ash body, three-piece maple neck, distinctive finger ramps, SuperGrip tuning machines, and a Bartolini pickup and NTBT circuit, are inherited from previous models. This current model features an uncoated ebony fingerboard, providing a comfortable, unified bass tone centered around a moderately loud midrange, with a subtly tight nuance and a soft, even warm tone, resulting in an appealingly exquisite bass tone. The slightly narrow 16.5mm string spacing, characteristic of Ibanez, makes it easy to play, and the simple yet versatile bass aspect allows for a wide range of tones to be expressed depending on the touch, adding to the appeal of this model. The woody, simple feel of the passive pickups is also a nice touch.
As the title suggests, this model is usually made to order, so you won't know what it's like until you order it. However, it's surprisingly lightweight, with a body balance that doesn't feel like the head is dropping, and most importantly, it has a crisp, distinct tone from the firm, firm swamp ash core, making it a very comfortable guitar. It certainly seems to have the appeal of something made in Japan. If you've been thinking about ordering or have been curious about it, don't miss this opportunity.
