Description

The Lead series, which debuted in 1979, was developed to accommodate the distortion sounds that were popular at the time. There were three basic versions, including the Lead III, which was released later, and despite their small bodies, they featured high-power pickups and a 25-1/2-inch scale.

The guitar we have in stock this time is in good condition, with a neck bearing the "LEAD I" logo and a "Lead II" body with two single coils.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.5 kg. The body is made of ash. Its wine red color allows the ash grain to show through. There is some overall fading on the case, sticker marks on the back of the body, dents and other scratches, along with paint chipping and dullness on the metal parts, but it is in good condition, typical of a vintage instrument.

【neck】
The neck and fingerboard are made of one-piece maple. There is some paint chipping and weather checking around the headstock and sides of the fingerboard, and some dents on the back of the neck, but like the body, the guitar is in good condition. The tuners appear to have been replaced, but they have now been restored to Schaller F keys. The tuners are still functioning properly, although there is some variation in the tightness of the winding. The nut has been replaced, and the frets have only slight wear, so playability is good. The headstock is 15.5mm thick and the nut width is 41.2mm. The neck shape is relatively solid.

[Electrical system]
The controls are the standard Lead II specifications: 3-way pickup selector, in-phase/out-of-phase switch in mix position, master volume, and master tone. The master tone pot has been replaced. The pickups are two high-power X-1s, delivering the satisfying, driving sound you expect from a high-power single-coil pickup.
