Description

A pre-owned 2021 John Mayer signature model, renowned as one of the new three greatest guitarists in the world!

Introducing the new PRS Silver Sky, a collaboration between Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith Guitars. Over two and a half years in the making, the Silver Sky is inspired by vintage guitars that players instantly recognize, while maintaining the quality of a newly designed PRS guitar in every way. Based on elements of John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith's beloved 1963/1964 vintage guitars, the Silver Sky is the idealized version of a vintage single-coil guitar.

While the headstock shape is based on PRS's trademark, modifications have been made to accommodate John Mayer's playing style, such as ensuring sufficient string length from the nut to the tuning machines and offsetting the tuning machines for improved tuning stability. The tuners are traditional vintage-style closed-back with locking mechanisms. The neck shape follows the 1963/1964 vintage model, and the fingerboard has a 7.25-inch radius, providing a vintage feel right from the moment you pick it up.

Like the tuners, the steel tremolo retains its classic design but features a PRS tremolo arm and Gen III knife-edge screws. The bridge is adjusted so that it is flush with the body when in tune. This contact between the bridge and the body improves the guitar's resonance and also improves the signal-to-noise ratio of the single-coil pickups. The 635JM single-coil pickups are characterized by their mellow tone yet powerful sound.

Since 2020, the top coat of the body after coloring has been applied with gloss lacquer, giving it a different texture and natural sound than previous models.

The condition of this guitar is somewhat affected by minor dents and scratches, tarnish on some parts, discoloration on the body top and end paint, a crack on the pickguard, and a repositioning of the ground wire on the tremolo spring hanger. The frets remain at about 70% of their original height, and there are no issues with playability, including the neck and electrical components, making this a guitar you can enjoy for years to come. While a relatively new model within the PRS family, the Silver Sky is an overwhelmingly popular choice. Don't miss this opportunity!
