Description
The "Regius 6" equipped with a TKO pickup, which is not available for new orders, has arrived!
The Regius model is symbolized as the flagship model among the many models in the Mayones lineup.
This model features a beautiful flame maple top, swamp ash body wings, and a neck-through construction with an 11-play multi-laminate neck centered around maple.
This guitar, which has just arrived, is equipped with the old-style Mayones original pickup "TKO" made by Bare Knuckle, and boasts a look that matches the dark feel of the Dirty Blue Burst with the combination of an all-gloss finish and gold parts.
The neck of a guitar is an important part that determines the character of the sound, and the character changes significantly depending on the material and construction used for the neck. The standard specification neck of the Regius model uses a strong 11-ply multi-laminate neck made primarily of maple.
Not only are they strong, but their structure also results in a harder sound quality, but in the case of Mayones products, this is not an unnatural hardness, but rather an extremely natural hardness created by the wood itself, which not only provides good sound separation and fast response in clean tones, but also creates a natural edge that never gets lost even when plugged into a high-gain amplifier and used with deep distortion, resulting in a distinctive clarity.
The body wings are made of swamp ash, which is lightweight and has a clear, crisp tone that matches well with the neck. The combination of high-quality woods creates a pleasant, edgy sound that is simply amazing.
In recent years, the Regius model has been highly praised by players who use it with low settings, dropped or down tunings. However, when using low settings with a lower string height, dropped or down tunings, the string tension inevitably decreases, causing the strings to move wildly when picking, or there is a tendency for the strings to simply not have enough tension, resulting in a buzzing or flat sound.
This is partly due to the settings of the string gauge, string height, nut, and frets, but there are also some aspects that cannot be resolved by settings alone.
If the neck does not have enough rigidity to bounce back the vibrations of the strings when the tension is low, the neck will absorb the string vibrations, which will tend to make the sound dull or muffled.
The Regius model uses the aforementioned strong neck, which is able to fully bounce back string vibrations, and the bridge is also a back-through type, which makes it easy to build up string tension. The fret settings use PLEK, and the fret height and nut height are mechanically scanned and adjusted, so when shipped the instrument is finished with a very precise fret setting. This makes it easy to create a sound that retains an edgy feel even when set low or in dropped or down tuning, and the ability to play with a stable setting is one of the reasons why it has earned high praise from players who use it in these settings.
The pickups are the Bare Knuckle Mayones original "TKO" pickups, previously standard on this guitar. These pickups offer a wide range of punchy tones, fully demonstrating the characteristics of Bare Knuckle's modern pickups, similar to those found in "Aftermath" pickups.
This was one of the most popular pickups available for Mayones, but as Mayones' in-house manufactured "Velvetrone" pickups will be installed as standard from 2024 onwards, it will no longer be possible to install the "TKO" pickup on new orders. As a result, unfortunately, the "TKO" pickup will basically only remain available on the market for as long as it lasts.
The control system is a typical modern guitar arrangement, with a 3-way pickup selector, master volume, and master tone.
The volume pot can also be used for coil tapping with push/pull, and the wiring also incorporates a high-pass filter called ``Mayones Treble Bleed Mod'' that compensates for the high-frequency drop that occurs when the volume is turned down, making it a simple yet functional control.
The all-gloss finish gives a sense of luxury, but for the "Regius" model, a matte finish on the body back will be standard from 2024 onwards, with gloss finishes on the body back and neck being optional, so all-gloss models may become rare in the future.
Features such as TKO pickups and an all-gloss finish will be difficult to obtain in the future, so don't miss this opportunity!
