Description

The sound of the "ROCKMAN X100" that was all the rage in the 80s is now reproduced in a pedal type!

The original ROCKMAN X100 was designed in the 1980s by Tom Scholz, guitarist for the hard rock band Boston and a PhD in engineering, and became a huge hit as a groundbreaking portable guitar amp simulator/headphone amp.

At the time, Tom founded his own company, Scholz Research & Development (SR&D), in pursuit of his ideal guitar sound, and released a series of innovative guitar tools. Among them, the X100, featuring a distinctive drive sound and a transparent chorus effect, and featuring direct input to a recording console, earned high praise as a versatile model. Its performance went beyond that of a simple headphone amplifier and was highly praised as a recording tool.

The MXR ROCKMAN X100 ANALOG TONE PROCESSOR packs all the sound of the original X100 into a compact pedal.

Now, with the help of veteran MXR engineer and former SR&D engineer Bob Cedro, we've succeeded in faithfully recreating the crisp, harmonically rich distortion, crystal clear clean sound, and chorus sound reminiscent of the arena rock of the time.

The MXR X100 is fully analog and features four presets: CLN1, CLN2, Edge, and Distortion, faithfully recreating the sound of the original X100. Furthermore, the distinctive chorus effect uses the MN3007 BBD (Bucket Brigade Device) chip, perfectly recreating the distinctive ROCKMAN chorus sound.

●RE-COMPRESSED
A key element of the original X100's sound was a special compression circuit that kept the sound clear in both clean and distorted modes. The MXR X100 features the same circuit design, with a slower compression release speed in clean mode and a faster release speed in distorted sounds.

●MODED OUT
Like the original, it features four presets selectable with the MODE button.
The two clean modes include "CLN1" mode, which provides a punchy sound with a focus on the mid-range, and "CLN2" mode, which provides a beautiful, crystal clear sound.
"Edge" mode features a crunch sound with just the right amount of clipping that responds sensitively to picking touch and input gain, while "Distortion" mode provides sustain and drive that's perfect for lead playing.

ON THE LEVEL
It perfectly reproduces the original, and uses sliders for VOLUME and INPUT GAIN.
INPUT GAIN adjusts the input level and sets the gain for each of the MXR X100's four modes. In particular, "Edge" mode allows for a wide range of sounds, from crunch to distortion, depending on the input level setting.
VOLUME adjusts the output level of the pedal.

●THE BUCKET BRIGADE
Equipped with the same classic MN3007 BBD chip as the original, the MXR X100 easily creates the pleasant, spacious stereo chorus known as the ROCKMAN sound with just a press of the Chorus button.

●DIG DEEPER
You can switch modes using an external pedal like the MXR(R) M199 TAP TEMPO or MXR(R) M231 TSR Split + Tap. You can also select mono or stereo output using the switch inside the pedal. The stereo output provides a spacious, dynamic chorus sound.

●ARENA ROCK IN A BOX
The MXR(R) ROCKMAN(R) X100(TM) ANALOG TONE PROCESSOR packs all the original ROCKMAN sound into a compact pedal.
It has been revived as the best gear for easily recreating the powerful guitar sounds of 80s arena rock.
