Description
Everyone loves the British sound!
Four Marshall effects pedals that defined an era in the 1990s (The Guv'nor, Drivemaster, Bluesbreaker, and Shredmaster) are being revived after nearly 20 years.
The reissue of a classic in-house effect pedal by a renowned British amplifier brand has generated a lot of buzz in various circles. It seems that the first batch was quickly sold out by pre-order.
That's no surprise, as the list of players who have used it is surprisingly full of big names.
Marshall effects pedals have been used by guitarists from all over the world, from all generations to the present, including John Mayer, Thom Yorke & Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine), Steve Craddock (Ocean Colour Scene), Dan Hawkins (The Darkness), Shinji Washima (Ningen Isu), and Ryo Owatari (Do As Infinity).
In this issue's special feature, we take the opportunity to revisit the so-called "British sound" and explore the appeal of this "British guitar sound" through an analysis of four reissued Marshall effects pedals.
