Description
-Broadkaster Series-
The warm, rich, and deep punchy '50s vintage tone of the Broadcaster is back for the modern era!
From the 1920s through the 1950s, Gretsch's flagship drum set was the Broadcaster series, a legendary series that featured thin, three-ply shells and was crafted without losing the "That Great Gretsch Sound."
Using advanced drum-making techniques at the Gretsch drum factory in Ridgeland, the Broadkaster series has been brought back to life with the same original sound and brilliance.
The Broadkaster series shells are made from three-ply North American maple/poplar/maple, and like other made-in-the-USA Gretsch drums, the shell interiors are finished in "Silver Sealer."
The shells are hand-finished with Gretsch's exclusive Reverse Round Over Bearing Edge to ensure optimal contact between the bearing edge and the drumhead.
For added structural integrity, a thin Interior-Ply scarf joint is used, along with Gretsch's proprietary "302" 3.0mm double-flange steel hoops.
These hoops are similar to the "stick chopper" hoops used in the 1950s, but are made from a heavier gauge steel to accommodate modern playing styles. The 302 hoops produce a more open tone than the die-cast hoops found on our USA-Custom Series guitars, adding a more ambient overtone to the overall sound.
Like the legendary kits that made them famous in the 1950s, today's Broadkasters faithfully produce the warm, deep, punchy tone of the original. Thanks to advances in modern manufacturing and finishing techniques, modern Broadkasters have even more dynamic response and sonic presence than the originals.
