Description
Description
Subsequent derivative models included the MERKAVA MK.2, which was designed with bass in mind, the UB-C3, which specializes in clean sounds, and the UB-G4, which allows for just the right amount of gain boost without having to worry about settings.
MERKAVA OVERDRIVE is a return to the basics and was born as a reproduction and improved version of the original MERKAVA.
It embodies a sound that was not possible with the first generation, with features such as an OVERDRIVE mode that expands the range of use as a standalone overdrive and the range of boost sensations, an upgraded TONE with a more user-friendly control range and variation, and a machined aluminum housing and upgraded parts and solder that give the sound a deeper, more detailed gradation.
■ Knob
◇GAIN
The gain adjustment is more like EQ or sharpness to the sound rather than gain up to about 12 o'clock. Within this range, you can combine it with the modes to aggressively create a clean tone.
After 12 o'clock, the gain and projection increase, so as a booster, you can adjust the amount of projection and texture when boosting.
As a standalone overdrive, it can be used like a normal gain knob.
◇TONE
Turning it up brings out the high frequencies, turning it down reduces the high frequencies.
◇LEVEL
Adjusts the output volume. In NORMAL/BOLD and FLAT BOOST/MID BOOST modes, the output is louder than that of a normal effect.
We recommend setting it appropriately to suit the tolerances of the subsequent stages.
The volume is reduced in CLIPPED and OVERDRIVE modes, but the output is still quite loud for an effect.
■Right toggle switch (moves left and right)
◇OVERDRIVE
It produces an edgy drive sound and is suitable for creating sharp crunch sounds when used alone.
The boost is effective when aiming for a crunchy texture with fine harmonics.
When combined with the CLIPPED mode on the left, you get a sticky overdrive.
◇FLAT BOOST
This mode literally provides a flat boost. As you increase the GAIN, the mids become more crisp.
◇MID BOOST
This mode provides more mid-range boost and a louder sound than the FLAT BOOST mode.
■ Left toggle switch (moves left and right)
◇CLIPPED
This mode has a strong sense of limiting and also produces soft distortion. It is ideal when you want to suppress the roughness of the attack, or when you want to create a smoother, more persistent overdrive in OVERDRIVE mode.
◇BOLD
This mode leaves the core of the attack thick. It is ideal when you want to retain a gritty, crunchy texture.
◇NORMAL
This is the basic mode.
